On Monday 18th November all pupils and staff enjoyed an exciting Interform Games. Pupils competed in Netball or Football— there were some great matches. Pupils were encouraged to observe TEAMWORK
Well done everyone!
Congratulations to Eliana Hague (8O) and Lillian Tucker (8N), in recognition of their Christmas card designs for the Frome Mayor's Christmas card competition. Eliana achieved 2nd place, and Lillian 3rd place, out of over 400 card submissions. Both cards were beautifully designed with an excellent sense of colour, creativity and composition. Our pupils were honoured to meet the Frome Mayor, Cllr Andy Jones, and receive their prizes.
All of Oakfield Academy's card submissions are on display on the ground floor of Frome Town Hall - please take your family along to see if you can spot yours!
Showing off the fantastic learning in the science department this week.
This week Y5 have been learning about the skeleton & bones. Pictured: 5S covered in sticky notes to locate the different bones in the body.
Y6 have been studying adaptations to the environment & evolution. We modelled evolution acting as giraffes with different sized necks competing for leaves at the top of trees. Pictured: Lydia Plummer & Millie Barnes 6S. Also, can you see the camouflaged 6S students?
Y7 have been studying particles by exploring changes when stearic acid freezes and making their own thermometers using food colouring and water.
Y8 have been studying the elements of the periodic table including the explosive reactions of alkali metals and water.
YEAR SIX PUPILS OF THE WEEK
Congratulations to the latest winners (L->R) Albert Pack, David Marshall, Jayden Pain, Logan Rogers, Esmae Cowler and inset Emily-Rose Pocock.
Just one example of our weekly celebrations with pupils.

On Thursday we welcomed Kimberley Carter from Network Rail who delivered two informative assemblies to Yrs 5&6, then Yrs 7&8.
Kimberley was asked to visit local schools by Frome Town Council following a significant rise in child and youth trespass incidents in the Frome area. She explained the hidden dangers a railway environment poses and exposed various mis-information being shared on various media platforms. The assemblies were listened to carefully by our pupils, which many found very thought provoking.
Thank you again Kimberley.
