Boost Mobile Pro 2008

Six days at Trestles By Bobby Schutz This is a web book from my recent trip to the Boost Mobile Pro, presented by Hurley. It was also my first time ever going to Trestles as a photographer. I had a great time photographing the worlds best surfers in really fun looking surf. It was usually foggy in the mornings with poor light, but some days presented some really nice lighting as well. My housing wasn't working properly while I was there, but out of the couple frames that I did get off from the water, I choose the shot of Dusty Payne for the cover cause it looks really different. I like how it shows the contest site in the background, and how Dusty is only half in the photo. It also looks cool how the sun is a big white ball in the grey sky. That's what it felt like out there. Swimming in desaturated colors, with this kind of matrix, industrial feel to the whole Southern California area. All in all it was a cool trip, and I hope you like flipping through just a few of the images I took while I was there. Aloha.

Unexpected Gems Sometimes great pictures are where you least expect them to be. I was all pumped up about shooting some free surfing on the second day I was there at trestles. But when I was heading down there it was so foggy and grey outside. It made me feel kinda gloomy and not want to shoot. I pulled over to get some juice and compressed air to clean some sand out of my tripod. I stumbled upon this group of about twenty five middle aged guys reliving the glory days with all of these amazing collectable cars. The cars were just amazing looking. Full of rich colors, and chrome. I couldn't help but bust out my camera and snap a few shots. I was so pleased with the way they were turning out that I ended up spending about a half hour walking around them, and admiring the detail.
