May 2009 Dear Parents of Eighth Graders: I want to let you know about the end-of-the-year activities planned for our promoting eighth grade students. They are as follows: ¾ Yearbook Signing Party: Tuesday, June 2nd, during school ¾ AR Reward Activity: Tuesday, June 2nd, during school ¾ Parent-Sponsored Promotion Dance: Tuesday, June 2nd, from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. ¾ SunSplash Trip: Wednesday, June 3rd, Leave - 9:30 a.m. Return - 4:00 p.m. ¾ Promotion Activities: Thursday, June 4th (Student dress: nice dress clothes.) Parents are invited. 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Titan – Gym
10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Zenith – Gym
11:30 – 12:30 p.m. Omega - Gym
The following are required to attend the SunSplash trip and promotion dance: Maintain a minimum cumulative semester grade point average (G.P.A.) of 1.5 for the seventh and eighth grade years. Maintain no less than 305 merits during eighth grade.* Maintain at least 85 percent attendance during the seventh and eighth grade years. All outstanding fines must be paid and all school materials returned. *Students will be ineligible for the promotion dance and the SunSplash trip if merits drop below 80 during the fourth quarter. Promotion Dance Tickets: Students must pre-purchase a ticket to this dance. Only eighth grade Spring View Middle School students with tickets will be admitted to the dance. The cost will be $8.00 per ticket and includes entertainment, decorations, raffle prizes and refreshments. Tickets will go on sale in student homerooms beginning May 14 through June 1st. Dress: “Groovy Dance Party Theme” – Casual dress – Tie-dye, headbands, flipflops. No tuxedos, formal gowns or limousines. Students in violation will not be allowed into the dance. SunSplash Trip: Tickets will go on sale in student homerooms beginning May 14th through May 28th. The cost will be $22.00 which includes transportation, lunch, unlimited beverages, and admission to the park. These tickets are only valid on June 3rd and are non-refundable. Sincerely,

Tuesday, June 2
Yearbook Signing Party and AR Reward Activity (All fines must be paid and all textbooks returned to receive a yearbook.) Promotion Dance - 6:30-9:00 p.m. in the Spring View Multipurpose Room. (Sponsored by eighth grade parents) Dress: Casual dress. No tuxedos or formal gowns. No limousines. Cost: $ 8 -Tickets available May 14th – June 1st.
Wednesday, June 3
SunSplash Trip – Leave school at 9:30 a.m. Arrive back at school between 3:45 - 4:00 p.m. Cost: $ 22 (includes transportation, lunch, unlimited beverages, and admission to the park) - Tickets available May 14th – May 28th.

Students who do not sign out with their parent or do not have written permission to leave with another parent will return to class.

2. I give permission for my son/daughter to attend the Promotion Dance at Spring View Middle School in the Multi-purpose room from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, 2009. I understand that a ticket is required to attend the promotion dance and that the dress code is as follows: Casual dress – sundresses, shorts and shirts – “Groovy Dance” Theme. No Limos, No Tuxedos, and No Formal Gowns. Anyone in violation of the dress code will be denied entry to the dance and no refund will be given. The cost of the dance is $8.00. Tickets will be on sale in student homerooms May 14 through June 1, 2009. Advance ticket purchase is required. SunSplash Fun Facts and Rules ¾ Food, beverages, and coolers may NOT be brought into the park. There are shaded picnic areas with tables just inside the main gate. ¾ Ticket purchase of $22.00 includes lunch and unlimited beverages. ¾ You may NOT bring radios or music into the park and it is strongly recommended that you leave your jewelry, watches, etc. at home. ¾ Guests must be at least 48” to ride most slides. Minimum weight for single riders is 50 pounds/maximum weight is 250 pounds. ¾ Guests with heart conditions, casts, seizure disorders, or physical impairments may NOT ride the slides. ¾ SunSplash cannot page. ¾ No running, diving or horseplay is allowed. ¾ Swimming attire must NOT have exposed zippers, buttons, or rivets. NO cutoffs. ¾ Attractions include: “Thunder Bay” – The Area’s Most Powerful Wave Pool “Bermuda Triangle” – Relax and Float Down Our Lazy River “Master Blaster” – Incredible New Roller Coaster Waterslide “Serpentine Slides” – Slide Down From 3 Stories High! ¾ Changing areas, lockers, tube rentals, and showers are located near the wave pool. ¾ SunSplash rents all-day lockers for $6.00, plus a $4.00 deposit. Tubes are available for free. ¾ If you would like to check your tube while you enjoy other attractions, the park provides a free tube-sitting service at the wave pool. ¾ First Aid is located next to the wave pool. An EMT is always on duty. ¾ A limited number of life vests are provided free of charge for those who need them. ¾ Please note - Tickets are ONLY valid on June 3rd, 2009 and are nonrefundable.

If asked to do something, respond in a polite and courteous manner. Don’t throw anything. Keep the noise down so the driver is not distracted.
