Audio Systems Engineer – Graz, Austria USound Technology is a fast growing MEMS start-up, created with the mission of developing and producing the most advanced audio systems for mobile applications. The technological platform that is USound Technology is developing will enable the production of a revolutionary generation of speakers that will be deployed in the world’s top mobile applications. USound Technology is currently looking for an Audio Systems Engineer: The audio systems engineer will drive the development of our future MEMS loudspeakers. We are looking for young engineers passionate about audio engineering with very good understanding of acoustics. The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with excellent hands-on skills, someone who enjoys working in a dynamic start-up environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Development and validation of innovative audio solutions for hand-held devices. • Work together with the MEMS Technology Engineers to develop the new MEMS audio platform • Work together with the ASIC Designers to develop a low power architectures to efficiently drive MEMS Loudspeakers • Simulation of audio architecture using MATLAB • Participate hands-on to the development and to the testing of loudspeakers. REQUIREMENTS: • Master or PhD in Audio Engineering • Knowledge of audio architecture for cell phones • Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP), 3D Audio and Virtual Bass concepts • Very good understanding of principles of analog and digital circuits: Ultrasound bandwidth, filtering techniques, signal conditioning, audio codec (ADC/DAC) architecture, amplifier architecture, Digital Sound Reconstruction, Parametric Arrays • Good understanding of digital interfaces Pulse-Density Modulation (PDM), Pulse-Code Modulation (PCM), I2S, Serial Low-power Inter-chip Media Bus (SLIMbus) • Analysis and simulation of audio circuits and acoustics using MATLAB • Understanding of speech, music, ultrasound characteristics, psychoacoustics, headrelated transfer function, auralization and relevant test methodologies • Knowledge of the telecommunication standards (ITU IMT-2000 compliant standards) • Knowledge MEMS Technology is a plus • Fluent German & English
