OPENNESS OPTIONS
| Openness, also known as opacity, refers to the amount of light that a shade will let into the room. Sunbrella® shades come in 1%, 3%, 5% and 7% openness options, letting you choose the light filtration that best suits the setting. The lower the percentage, the more opaque the shade is, blocking more light than higher percentages.
1% OPENNESS
Our most opaque fabrics offer 1% openness, filtering the most light out of the room and offering some privacy.
3% OPENNESS
Our second-most opaque fabrics offer 3% openness, which lets some light into the room and a shaded view in and out of the room.
5% OPENNESS
Fabrics with 5% openness bring more light into the room and allow a good view through the window.
7% OPENNESS
Fabrics with 7% openness let the most light into the room and allow a clearer view through the window.
