Phase Two recommendations include Exit 95 from Interstate 85. Though this exit offers fewer immediate commercial destinations, it is the first exit that Southbound traffic uses to access Limestone College. It is also the exit for Novant Health, who could be a potential partner in developing an intersection improvement plan and gateway information downtown.

Recommendation:
Existing
Add additional signage to the back of City Hall so that people arriving from the west will know that they have arrived at City Hall. The large brick wall is an ideal location for additional wall-mounted signage.

Recommendation:
Create multiple types of wayfinding opportunities for pedestrians and drivers, including an interchangeable signage case, an electronic kiosk, murals, etc. Mural of logo or art could be placed on front of building or side facing parking lot. Pending encroachment permit, large doublesided sign should face oncoming traffic. Large sign could also be mounted on side of building facing parking lot instead of on lawn.

Recommendation:
Create a sense of arrival for people as they Finish/Begin the Cherokee Foothills National Scenic Byway in Historic Downtown Gaffney. The current “end highway sign fails to offer the appropriate character of the Byway and of Historic Downtown Gaffney. Temporary signage can be used in the meantime however permanent gateway enhancements are recommended.
