ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION in SOUTH CAROLINA a project of the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor
TODAY’S YOUTH = TOMORROW’S LEADERS ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROVIDES IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO BECOME ENGAGED IN REAL ISSUES THAT AFFECT THEIR COMMUNITIES AND THEIR WORLD. ENGAGING IN ENVIRONMENTAL LESSONS AND PROJECTS, STUDENTS CAN SEE THE RELEVANCE OF THEIR CLASSROOM STUDIES TO COMPLEX ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES AND THEY CAN ACQUIRE VALUABLE PROBLEM SOLVING AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS THAT WILL SERVE THEM IN A VARIETY OF WAYS THROUGHOUT THEIR LIVES. ACROSS OUR STATE THERE ARE MANY GREAT ORGANIZATIONS PROVIDING QUALITY ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAMMING. WHAT IS MISSING, HOWEVER, IS A HUB CONNECTING THESE ORGANIZATIONS TO EDUCATORS AND STUDENTS. YES! IS THAT HUB.

CHANGE
LBETHE L I W E #W
Introducing environmental education at a young age, students will mature with a sense of personal responsibility towards environmental sustainability. Our mission is to bring notice to environmental topics, inspire students to become actively involved in issues that sustain our world, and educate on the variety of green jobs available in our state. When most people think of green jobs, they often limit themselves to the realm of researchers, scientists, recycling workers, and other nature-based careers. This is simply not the reality. Almost any career can relate directly or indirectly back to environmental sustainability. All manufacturers can work to reduce waste, increase productivity, and limit resource use all while being cost effective. We want to showcase local career opportunities that engage environmental factors into their standards. Anywhere from architectural engineers to lawyers to entrepreneurs have the option to choose sustainable practices. With the next generation being taught to think differently, there will be a natural change in the way our society functions. We will not only create a cleaner, healthier environment, but we will also develop a more cost effective, highly productive way of operating in our day-to-day functions.
Please join us on our “We Will Be the Change movement.
