Dear LoVPHOs, thank you for being patient! We are pleased to announce that the first LoVPHO Day will happen this year from May 15h until May 20th. To stay tuned with all updates, please register your local IVSA organization and fill out this form. Since IVSA initially was formed to connect Veterinary Student’s Worldwide we are going to use this global aspect to bring it into our LoVPHO One Health event. Your local event should focus on Globalization and Global warming with regards to the spread of diseases. Different countries face different health and environmental issues. The IVSA family and especially the Standing Committee on One Health wants to address these issues. We want to show our faculties, our members and partners that we as students do care about those problems, that we want to face them and that we are trying raise awareness amongst our colleagues. Globalization is not an emerging phenomenon but a fact with long tracing history. Globalization helps us to work together. As veterinarians and scientists working in the health sector we must also see the side effects, such as the spread of diseases. Global warming on the other hand is a change in our climate which we have only started recently to recognize as a serious problem. It was the summer of 1988 that the term “global warming” became common use in the press and public discussions. Let us, as veterinary students, as scientists take a look at the problems we are facing today and which we will face in the future! Let us show our friends and colleagues what we have to keep in mind! Let us show them, that IVSA shares common interests all around the world to raise awareness and to help fight diseases. Let us all come together for the IVSA LoVPHO Event to have a greater impact because more voices around the world speak up at the same time. ●
Organize a local event between May 15th and May 20th at our faculty/ in your town and choose a topic that is connected to globalization / global warming. It can be anything from a lecture, a video presentation, a fundraising event, a scholarly debate, etc.
