Note: The idea behind the piece is the birds singing called Territorial Songs. It is when some birds sings their own tune in order to show that the particular territory where they live belongs to them. But of course they never sing simultaneously. So the idea of letting some sections of the orchestra play freely, or so to speak take their own territory within their group they belong to, comes from the Territorial Songs of the birds.
1) Ad Libitum sections: The ritardandi and accelelerandi should be performed highly individual, so that players in each section are not playing together. Sometimes it is required that some sections of the orchestra should play other tempi, than what the conductor is beating.
