Things to do in Forfar and beyond

SCOTLAND’S LARDER
Each and every month you can stock up on fresh produce from local suppliers at Angus Farmers Market, held in Forfar’s Strathmore Hall. Fruit and veg are of course the staples, but all kinds of tasty and unusual treats are available for foodies to sample and savour. From craft spirits, locally produced honey and artisan chocolates, to candles, coffee and cuts of specialist meats - there’s real variety and local investment here in abundance. So if shopping local and buying special are your thing, this is an absolute must. The atmosphere is always terrific and the choice is hard to beat.
TIME FOR A TIPPLE
Relax and experience some of the finest spirits and drinks the area has to offer. Visit the newly opened Ogilvy Spirits Visitor Centre in Forfar and be guided through their ‘ground to glass’ potato and vodka production. If you’re more of a gin lover, then you’ll be spoilt for choice with a tasting experience at the award-winning Gin Bothy nestled in the historic village of Glamis. Beer drinkers are also well catered for at Angus Brewfest. Now in its fifth year, the annual event is a celebration of Scottish brewing, hosted by Angus Farmers Market - always popular and well-attended by a range of the very best breweries.
