Iwilda passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at her home. Iwilda Casey was born October 12, 1927 in Davenport, AL. She departed this life early on Sunday September 9, 2018 at her home in peaceful surrender to God’s heavenly angels. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Robert and Irene Colvin. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry L. Casey, Sr., daughter, Geraldine Lee, and son, Lonnie Casey. On July 16, 1948, Ms. Casey was joined in holy matrimony to Henry Casey, Sr. and to this union six children were born.

Ms. Casey was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to everyone that she came in contact with. She was passionate about her love for God and making everyone who came in contact with her feel like family. Ms. Iwilda, Madea, and Mother Casey as she was affectionately called by many in her beloved Lincoln Park neighborhood and church, took pride in mothering and being a grandma to all those who lost their mother or just needed a mother’s love. She often bragged about “being blind and thanking the good Lord that she was still ticking with a portion of her right mind, health, and strength” at 90 years old. She loved people, desserts and fried chicken. Though this was completely against the doctor’s orders, she managed to sweet talk anyone who called her on the phone to sneak her those foods. She was assertive and had a way of always getting her way. She gave her life to the Lord and was saved and baptized in Jesus name with the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Mother Casey was pastored by Bishop Milton Sledge, Sr. of Lincoln Park Apostolic Church. A devoted member and spiritual mother to many, Mother Casey was one of the founding members of Lincoln Park Apostolic Church. Iwilda Casey was loved by many far and near and her legacy will forever be cherished by her loving family and a host of friends. She is survived by her children, Janice (Greg) Bond, Henry (Martha) Casey, Larry (Lavon) Casey, and Lydia Turner. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 3 great great-grandchildren. Her siblings include: Gladys Wright and Robert (Ella) Colvin, longtime friend, Sally Crawford, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Content Source
