future plans During the coming year key priorities include:
• improved targeting of resources to support local need • engaging Groups in a ‘census of achievement’ • refinement of the web presence of SHQ and its Activity Centres • monitoring adult training take-up and progression • developing a fund raising strategy for SHQ • supporting Regions and District to grow Scouting in ‘new’ locations • pursuing full implementation of the Youth Involvement strategy • developing Scout and Activity Centre programme links with the Curriculum for Excellence. The Board was delighted that Chief Commissioner Eleanor Lyall was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by Angela Constance MSP, Minister for Children and Young People, at the National Youth Worker of the Year Awards hosted by YouthLink in March. Whilst recognising Eleanor’s huge personal commitment, the award also gave recognition to the wider contribution of Scouting and its volunteers to youth work in Scotland.
