An Easy 3-Day Pool Maintenance Routine

Pool season has arrived, but before residents dust off their floaties, it is important to make sure the pool water is in balance. Balanced water chemistry will help prevent the water from becoming corrosive, which can damage your pool, its equipment, and your property’s budget.

Here is an easy three-day routine. These steps are guaranteed to help your maintenance professionals keep your pool crystal clean.

Monday

• Test the pH, the alkalinity, and sanitizer levels. The total alkalinity level should range between 80 to 120 ppm. The pH level should range from 7.2 to 7.8. The sanitizer level should range from 1 to 4 ppm.

• Add algaecide to help prevent algae from forming.

• Add a sequestering agent to help prevent stains and scale.

Wednesday

• Clean out the skimmer and vacuum the pool.

• Take a towel to wipe off the water line and use a surface cleaner for any buildup.

• Add some non-chlorine shock oxidizer to get rid of any contaminants in the water.

• Double-check the filter’s operation process by referring to the manufacturer’s directions for when to clean or backwash.

Friday

Retest the pH, alkalinity, and sanitizer levels and adjust the levels as you see fit.
