I Am an Open Book!

Join Us for the DEI Mixer in December!

The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee is hosting a mixer on Thursday, December 1 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. This event will be held at the GNAA Office and is free to attend for the entire GNAA membership. The committee is introducing the GNAA Living Library, where the books are humans, and their lives are the stories that inspire. The GNAA Living Library creates a positive, safe, and judgefree environment to address today’s stereotypes and prejudices – a place where difficult questions are welcome and answered.

Five GNAA members have volunteered and are participating in the Living Library. They are excited to share their personal experiences with the GNAA community. An attendee is encouraged to check out a “book” on a topic they are interested in learning more about. For example, attendees could learn about individuals with disabilities, LGBTQIA people, or individuals who practice a particular religious faith. Each attendee will have limited time with each human book to have a conversation to converse and ask questions without condemnation. And everyone is invited to engage in an open dialogue with their human “books” to educate and challenge bias and stereotypes
