THE MISSION CONTINUES

In 2022, Son of a Saint commemorated 11 years of impact, service, and success, continuing its crucial work of mentoring and transforming the lives of fatherless young men across Greater New Orleans. Son of a Saint also celebrated its most prodigious milestone yet: the grand opening of our permanent headquarters, The Ochsner Health Son of a Saint Bivian Lee Jr. Center, a ectionately known as A Home for Our Boys. Our newly reenvisioned space is a centralized hub for our mission, serving as the epicenter for our programming and a safe-haven for our mentees. Our organization has reached new heights and strengthened its diverse network of partners, supporters, and sta .

As we celebrate 12 years in 2023, Son of a Saint continues to provide tangible solutions to the challenges facing our communities, while also empowering our young mentees to become leaders and changemakers. Despite more than 70 percent of our mentees coming from fatherless households due to death, violence, or long-term incarceration, these young men still reach their goals and achieve measurable success. This is demonstrated through our organization’s 100 percent high school graduation rate, as well as all of our Son of a Saint alums enrolling in college or post-secondary education plans, or becoming gainfully employed with opportunities for career advancement. Even more importantly, none of our young men are involved in the judicial or legal system.

Son of a Saint looks forward to adding more programs, mentors, and services and building the lives of more young men than ever before. We have increased the number of young men we support through our program, reaching nearly 300 boys and their families, marking a new benchmark in Son of a Saint’s history.

Each new mentee entering our program will have access to wraparound services and transformative resources—including an adult male mentor, therapy, academic scholarships, tutoring, ACT preparation, STEM education, internships, travel experiences, nutrition education, and much more.

Son of a Saint’s future looks brighter than ever, and we’re glad to have steadfast support and increasing commitment from our partners, collaborators, and friends, both new and old. To our Greater New Orleans community, we sincerely say, Thank you!
