WELCOME to VOLUME 1 of THE SCOUT GUIDE ® NEWPORT BEACH

What a privilege it is to introduce The Scout Guide’s local-loving mission on the West Coast. Whether you’re a visitor, newcomer, or longtime local, my hope is that this Guide will inspire discovery and connection. Browse it, display it, share it – but most importantly, use it. In doing so, we strengthen each other and our community, investing in Newport Beach’s even more beautiful tomorrow.

The guide is a celebration of the people behind the exceptional local businesses in Newport Beach — the entrepreneurs, makers and creators who have followed their passions and share a commitment to our town and the surrounding communities. It is an honor to tell your story.

I am so grateful for the warm reception and enthusiasm that you’ve offered my small business. It’s a testament both to our community and the power of local businesses supporting one another. There are simply too many talented people to thank for their support, but I would be remiss not to express my gratitude for the inaugural volume’s wonderful team – photographer Mike Radford, Makenzi Hogan and Jane O’Connor.

To Newport Beach at large… thank you! And to readers, thank you for using this guide. Next time you’re near one of these businesses, be sure to pop in and meet the people that make Newport Beach such a special place to live, work and play — and don’t forget to tell them The Scout Guide sent you!

Cheers, Catherine

Years in Newport Beach spent raising little ones have forever cemented this seaside city as home. We lived in one of the city’s most special neighborhoods. Our kids attended local schools and participated in all of Newport Beach’s fun, like Junior Guards, water polo, soccer, lacrosse, crew, you name it. That is, until our youngest son’s placement on the U.S. Snowboard Team and journey as a young professional globe trotting athlete took us to the mountains of Park City. Yet, I’ll never stop thinking of Newport as home. I return as frequently as life allows, maintaining a few design projects in town so I always have an excuse to pop back to see my friends, visit my old stomping grounds, and support the best shops – which happen to be some of my favorites in the entire world.

I can’t exaggerate how much I love the community that is Newport Beach: its opportunities, its small-town feel (even though it’s becoming a bit of a metropolis now), and its history. I love that new shops pop up frequently, complementing those that have been decades-long favorites. I love the design, dining, and laid-back sophistication –Newport is unlike any other place!

I’m so thrilled to see The Scout Guide come to Newport Beach. I rst became aware of The Scout Guide when I was invited to become a member of The Scout Guide Park City. When I rst appeared in TSG Park City four years ago, I had no idea the doors it would open and the networking opportunities it would provide. The introductions and connections it has facilitated have been invaluable, personally and professionally. We are a small group of local entrepreneurs across industries that share so much commonality and excitement to support one another. In short, I was – and still am – knocked out by the guide and the brains, talent, kindness, opportunities, and business marketing advisory resources behind it. What I thought was a hyper-local guide, I quickly learned was a door to national resources and connections. I travel frequently, for leisure and work, and when I visit a town with its own Scout Guide, it’s one of the rst resources I refer to – for dining, shopping, and professional needs. I love that TSG is in my favorite cities, Austin, New Orleans, Phoenix/Scottsdale, and the list goes on! Stephanie Hunt | @the airhunter

Flair Favorites! When I swoop into town - again, not NEARLY as often as I would like to these days, I have my Tried and True places that top my list. When friends who haven’t been to Newport before reach out and ask me what they should see while here, I send them to some of these, and more! Slightly too many to list but these will forever remain my favorites.
