ANASTASIA LOMONOVA
Individual Femininity
After moving to Canada at 17,
Anastasia studied fashion design at Ryerson University in Toronto. A few
years later she moved to Montreal, seeking
inspiration
and
change.
There she completed internships
with designers Valerie Dumaine and Nadya Toto. Soon Anastasia decided to embark on a long-term dream of creating a clothing line of her own.
In April 2006, aged 22, she launched her first collection under the Anastasia
Lomonova label. Despite the many
difficulties she came to face, the designer was determined to follow her successful debut and bring her designs
to life. Now available across Montreal and on-line, Anastasia’s pieces focus on individuality, outstanding design and
femininity – most importantly, making the wearer feel beautiful and unique.

Ilse Valfré ne of Ilse’s earliest memories is with a jumbo size crayon, drawing on everything that she could put her hands on. Ilse was born on September 9th in Pto. Penasco, Sonora Mexico to a loving mother and a journalist father and is the youngest of her three siblings. She spent most of her youth going through her nana’s (grandmother) vintage fashion magazines, enjoying the warm weather with her siblings playing, singing and swimming at the beach. At the age of 6 Ilse moved to Tijuana,Mexico, and at age 10 was cast for a kids TV show as a news reporter. During the same year she had her first exposition as a Illustrator and painter. “I will never forget when I saw the people smiling and enjoying my artwork, it was one of the most memoral moments in my life”. In her teen years, she says “I was not into dating, I was more into friends, modeling, reading biographies of people I found interesting, comics books ,illustrating and fashion”. At 17 Ilse started her first clothing line, sold in very trendy shops in San Diego and Mexico. She took a break from the clothing line to focus on her studies and illustrate a book called “ The Bambini’s”. “I get inspiration from places I least expect. For me doing what I love is more than just doing ¨art¨, it is like therapy for me.” www.ivalfre.com

Holly Hatam TEAR DROP WEDDINGS Unique wedding invitations designed to look just like you.
“It gave me a warm fuzzy feeling in my tummy”
H
olly Hatam, Founder and Creative Director of TearDrop is an accomplished graphic designer and well known in the wedding industry as “the girl with the very unique, whimsical designs.” She started creating invitations when her friend Melissa pleaded and begged her to design her wedding invitations. After countless, enjoyable hours of watching Melissa beg like a baby, Holly agreed to the challenge! The response Holly got from her design gave her a warm fuzzy feeling in her tummy…and from that day on she constantly had a craving for paper! When designing her invitations, Holly thinks of the “real” bride and groom ad transforms a blank sheet fop aper into an original piece of artwork that tells the love story of that original couple. Holly’s other loves include, paint fights, silly words, her cat’s wet nose, tea and despite not having met one yet, dinosaurs…grrrr, argh! www.teardropweddings.com

riginally from Chicoutimi, Eve Gravel left her Saguenay home at the young age of 16 to study at the prestigious Richard Robinson Academy of Fashion Design in Ottawa. She then continued on to Montréal to study for another three years under the tutelage of eminent designers the likes of Georges Lévesque, Kevin Alwood (Nevik) and Kathleen Kovats. The talented designer created her first ready-to-wear collection for women in the spring of 2002, following an life-altering, sixmonth stay in Europe. The Eve Gravel label was born! Inspired by her travels, music and street fashion, and highlighted from the very beginning, Eve Gravel’s collections reinforce her signature design duality. Her beloved chromatic trio – black, gray, white – flirts with more colourful shades as easily in summer as it does in winter, and always demonstrates a clever combination of structure, volume and fluidity. As feminine as they are tomboy – like the designer
e
herself- each season showcases pieces inspired by retro and contemporary looks that reach out and touch those who wear them, consequently accompanying the wearer perfectly in her day-to-day. Just like in a song where every note is essential to the melody, each piece of every Eve Gravel collection works in harmony to compose the score to our femininity. Deeply involved in Québec’s cultural scene, Eve Gravel outfits and styles several celebrities and artists. Her prestigious list includes the musical duo Beast, singersongwriter-actors Ariane Moffat, Coeur de Pirate, Mara Tremblay, Fanny Bloom ( La Patère Rose), Justine Laberge ( Alpha Rococo) and Stéphanie Lapointe, as well as radio and TV host Catherine Pogonat. As a result of the label’s outstanding success, Eve Gravel’s innovative collections are now available throughout Canada, in select boutiques in the United States and France, as well as via her online boutique at www.shopevegravel.com.
