Christy Song, from Ringgold, Georgia, is an Emory University senior double majoring in biology and music. She was born in Seoul, South Korea, where she was introduced to music by her mom. Charmed by the influence of her musical family, she started playing violin at age three under her teacher Eun-Ryung Shin, who led her to win national competitions. Shortly after embarking on the violin-centric chapter of her journey, she started learning piano under Ji-Sun Park. Continuing her violin studies guided by the student of Ivan Galamian, Ann Rylands, Song discovered the flute with the tutelage of Kristen Holritz upon moving to the United States. She has played with various bands, chamber ensembles, and orchestras in Seoul, Georgia, Tennessee, Indiana, and New York. Song was the principal flute player in Georgia All-State bands and Heritage Wind Ensemble under Blair Callaway. Song was the Chattanooga Youth Symphony concertmaster for three years under Gary Wilkes, where she also won two concerto competitions and performed with Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra. Song participated in Georgia’s Governor’s Honors Program as a violinist under Howard Hsu. In addition, she has participated in numerous master classes with violinists such as David Coucheron, Geneva Lewis, and Cornelia Heard. While at Emory, Song served as concertmaster and principal second of the Emory University Symphony Orchestra. Song studies violin with Jessica Shuang Wu, violinist of the Vega Quartet, and flute with James Zellers. Upon graduation, Song plans to work at Emory University Hospital before attending medical school. She thanks Paul Bhasin, Jessica Shuang Wu, James Zellers, Emory Friends of Music, her friends, and her family for their support, and wishes to motivate others to seek their passions through her experiences.

Jason Lin, piano

Jason Lin, 22, from Plano, Texas, recently graduated from Emory, with a BS in chemistry and a BA in music (summa cum laude). Since beginning his piano studies at age six, Lin has gone on to receive top honors at state, regional, and national competitions and soloed with several orchestras, including the Plano, Dallas, and Emory University symphony orchestras. Outside of music, Lin works as a clinical research coordinator at the Emory School of Medicine and volunteers at the Clarkson Community Health Center and with Emory EMS. In his spare time, Lin loves to watch dramas and movies, cook, travel, and learn new languages.
