ScreamFest was formed in 2001 by producer Rachel Belofsky to give filmmakers and writers in the horror genre a venue to introduce their work to the industry. “We are very proud of the success of past filmmakers. The tradition seems to continue as some of our filmmakers have gone on to direct studio films” says Belofsky. The Screamfest Horror Film Festival is the largest horror film festival in the United States. Some of the toprated horror online publications have called it the “Sundance of Horror.” The festival has hosted many famous filmmakers as guests,

Becoming
The Huntsman
Three survivors are trapped with a terrifying creature that grows stronger with every victim it claims. Once it has your scent, you can not run from it.
In a cottage, in a wood, a red cloaked predator is spinning fairy tales of death. Whether gutted, stuffed in an oven, or simply drowned, The Huntsman ensures that no one lives happily ever after...
And if you kill it... you become it. Directed by: Viko Nikci Produced by: Viko Nikci and Lindsay Webster
Directed by: Adam Penn Produced by: Seyi Peter-Thomas
Ol’ Stan Levid
Onionhead
Stem
A young drifter by the name of Cal finds himself in unfamiliar territory: a small, incongruous tavern just off the dusty interstate. Suddenly opposite a welldressed stranger calling himself Stanley Levid, the two begin to casually converse. As the situation turns increasingly sinister, however, the unsuspecting young man quickly finds himself locked in a desperate struggle, fighting for his very life.
Sixty years ago a giant grotesquely disfigured man roamed the woods of a rural Louisiana community. The locals cruelly nickname him Onionhead. When a young girl was found murdered, he was wrongfully blamed. An angry mob came for him, killed him then buried his dismembered remains in an unmarked grave. Many years later a young teenage couple meets the resurrected monster, when four children unwittingly release him from the grave that trapped him for decades.
After a miraculous but questionable discovery, stem cell researcher Dr. William Chen suffers a massive stroke leaving him paralyzed. Slowly the life he knew disappears. His wife leaves him. He’s left to waste away in a hospital bed. Dr. Chen can’t take it anymore. He’s forced to kill his way out of the hospital, attempting to get his old life back.

In the spirit of the EC horror comics of old, the film tells the story of five teens who get lost on their way to a rock concert, are menaced by flesh eating mutations and then fall into the clutches of a family of backwoods killers. The film includes copious amounts of gore alongside a splattering of social commentary and several slices of dark humour. It’s best seen as a tribute to the cinema of Lucio Fulci and George Romero, but viewed from a distinctly Pakistani perspective. The film is directed and co-written by former film critic Omar Ali Khan. Its cast combines some of the country’s most exciting new talent alongside Pakistani film veterans such as Rehan and Najma Malik. The gruesome make up effects were done by Nawab Sagar, another industry veteran who has worked on numerous mainstream productions. The film was shot by London trained cinematographer Najaf Bilgrami and was edited by the UK’s Andy Starke.
