SSI Night Diving Specialty Course in Andaman scubainandaman.wordpress.com/2022/10/17/ssi-night-diving-specialty-course

The course is designed in such a way as to learn advanced skills while diving at night or in limited visibility conditions. The night diving Specialty Course is altogether a different experience to see marine life. At night marine life seems to be more colorful and mysterious. It is an entirely different experience and incomparable with other forms of diving. Many reef animals sleep during the day and come out at night. You may likely see shrimp, lobsters, crabs, a wide range of fish, and other sea animals during night dives. You will be able to experience beautiful views of Bioluminescence during a night dive. Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon visible due to a chemical reaction from a micro-living organism that produces and emits light. You have to minimize or hide the effect of your flashlight to see it. Bioluminescence can only be seen in the darkness so you have to cover the flashlight against your chest or hand in place of switching it off. Must-follow Rules for Night diving You have to consider a number of factors before going to dive underwater in the dark. You should choose a known dive site for night dives because it will be easier to navigate around a familiar dive site. You will be able to observe key changes in underwater marine life from day to night. You have to keep in mind that everything is controllable during the night dive while choosing a dive site. An ideal dive site should have minimum water currents, easy entry and exit, no surf, and other obstacles that may interrupt your dive. Night dive equipment

You should set up all your scuba dive equipment during the day or in sufficient light so that you don’t miss anything while your actual dive. You should choose a torch with strong power and a long battery backup. You have to consider beam width, burn time, and depth rating while choosing a torch for night dive. It is recommended to carry a spare torch in case the primary torch stops working or runs out of battery. You should use familiar equipment that you have tried during the day in place of brand-new equipment. Dive with a buddy at night You must start a night dive with a professional and experienced buddy. It will boost your confidence as well as personal and mental support. It is easier to get lost at night so both of you keep an extra eye out for each other. A short buddy line will be helpful to minimize the risk of being separated. You have to be aware while pointing your light and avoid shining it in other divers’ eyes. Best time for night diving You should start your night dive in the evening because it will help you to adjust to the darkness gradually. Another good option is to dive before sunrise because it will be wonderful to experience marine life when they are awakened. For safety reasons, you must plan a shorter dive as compared to diving in the daytime. Night dive signals The use of light signals is a crucial part of night diving. You should move the light up and down to attract a buddy’s attention. If there is something wrong underwater, you should move the light from side to side. When you wave the light in a circle, it is considered everything is fine.
