People come from around the world to visit and the world-famous, Sundial Bridge designed by Santiago Calatrava, the museum, and the beautiful Sacramento River. This special tour covers “the rest of the story!” Learn about the rich history of the people who lived in Turtle Bay for thousands of years – the location was home to a large village where Indians caught salmon and collected acorns. Later, a sawmill was built there and the site contributed the gravel critical for building the Shasta Dam. Evidence of this history still exists, if you know where to look. The walk will answer questions like: “What connection does Turtle Bay have with Ishi, the last ‘wild’ Indian in California?”
