Hair and Beauty Refresher Course

This course is designed for qualified hair and beauty professionals to refresh, update and upskill aspects of hairdressing and beauty skills. This bespoke course gives flexibility to each learner where you can identify what skills you need to develop whilst working alongside a professional from industry. The course runs over 7 weeks where you will study and perform skills in beauty for 4 sessions and hairdressing for 3 sessions. You will be required to complete all 7 weeks. There will be costs for the students for materials. You will be advised of what these are on first lesson. Tutors: Eileen Ripley and Denise Richmond. Length

Ceramic Tile Workshop Come along and experiment with shape, pattern, colour and texture in tile making. Learn how ceramic tiles have been made and used throughout history for both in interior and exterior surfaces. Design a multi-tiled panel or single tiles for coasters, number plates etc. Learn the techniques for forming, firing and glazing your tile designs to completed products. Get advice on fixing tiles to a variety of surfaces. Ideal if you are a beginner or have some previous ceramics experience and want to enhance your existing skills. Led by a very experienced tutor/practitioner in friendly , well equipped specialist ceramic workshop. There will be a charge of £3.50 per kilo of final finished fired glazed work. Tutor: Sheila Hay. Insects, Bees and the Wider Environment Course This course is interactive, informative and fun. It will cover how the natural world is reliant on animals and insects, how they interact on each other. We will investigate how honeybees, the most important insects for the pollination of over one third of our food products together with many other specialist insects. Sessions will examine the life cycle of the honeybee, their habits and how climate change is affecting the keeping of them for honey production. We will also compare natural and conventional beekeeping methods, whether in the rural or urban environment. There will also be an opportunity to learn how to begin setting up as a beekeeper. We also explore the best plants and flowers to plant to attract insect life. Tutor: Dennis Stidder

Drawing and Painting Beginners Course Suitable for complete beginners or those with a little experience. You will receive guidance on how to draw from observation, using tone and line in a variety of media, and how to paint what you see in the medium of your choice (acrylics, chalk pastels or watercolours).
