Providing unemployed people or those on low income with development and progression The Inside Track programs are delivered FREE for all aged 19+ who are currently unemployed and in receipt of benefits; JSA/ ESA/ UC. Evening course are also available, please call to find out more

Functional Skills English & Maths:An 11 week accredited course providing learners with the opportunity to achieve up to a Level 2 functional skills qualification. Learners will study one subject/ level per term.   

Enrolment:- Tuesday 23rd April 2019 @ 10am – report to reception English Start:- 29th April 2019 @ 9:30 – 1:00 (Mondays/Wednesdays & Fridays) Maths Start:- 30th April 2019 @ 9:30 – 2:00 (Tuesdays & Thursdays)

ICT Entry 3:A 5 week City & Guilds accredited course designed for people with little/no experience with computers and would like/need to learn the basics.  Enrolment:- Monday 10th June @ 10am  Start:24th June 2019 @ 9:30-2:30 (Mondays & Wednesday )

ICT Level 1:This is a progression route from the above Entry 3 course. Another 5 week City & Guilds accredited course ideal for those wanting more detailed knowledge and skills to support their chances of gaining employment.  Enrolment:- Friday 26th April 2019 @ 10am  Start:Monday 13rd May @ 9:30-2:30 (Mondays & Wednesday )

Level 2 Food Safety This is a one-day course meeting the minimum requirements under the EU (European Union) in order to work within a food environment. JSA or ESA only  Enrolment:- Monday 20th May 2019 @ 10am  Start:Wednesday 29th May 2019 @ 9:30-2:30 (one day)

Cooking Skills from Scratch 5 week course supporting people with basic cooking skills  Enrolment - Prior to course start date, Student Services Station Plaza  Start :Tuesday’s 4th June 2019 7:00pm – 9:00pm

Introduction to DIY/ Household Repair & Maintenance This is a 10 week course ideal for those wanting a career change and want to try out the trades and see if it could be for them. Learners will try Bricklaying and pointing, patching render and plaster, plus assembling kitchen units and tiling. The course is predominantly practical and takes place in Ore Valley Campus where learners get to experience a state-of-the-art workshop.  Enrolment - Prior to course start date, Student Services Station Plaza  Start:Tuesday’s 23rd April @ 6:30pm – 8:30pm Ore Valley Campus

Introduction to Plumbing This 10 week course is ideal for those that are thinking about a change of career and want to try out the trade and see if it could be for you. Learn the basic skills required for hot and cold water installations, sanitation and drainage. Learn how to maintain plumbing components and identify simple faults. Introduction to Carpentry This 10 week course is ideal for those that are thinking about a change of career and want to try out the trade and see if it could be for you. Learn the basic skills in Carpentry including, use and maintaining tools, basic woodworking joints, changing a lock, fitting ironmongery, fixing skirtings’ and architraves etc.  Enrolment:- Prior to course start date, Student Services Station Plaza  Start:23rd April 2019 @ 6:30pm – 8:30pm Ore Valley Campus

The Incredible Router The modern woodworking router is a versatile tool, particularly useful in the wood work industry and used by professionals and enthusiasts alike. Training sessions will include; safe set up and use of the router, different types of cutters and common tasks including kitchen worktops and joinery features. Also mouldings, rebates, curves etc. This course in intended for people who already have basic woodwork skills. A safety induction is mandatory.  

Trade Skills Short Course - Plastering Ideal for beginners or those with no previous experience. Come and learn the essential skills for repairing and renewing plasterwork. Includes safe use of hand tools understanding the materials, and techniques for the various undercoat and finish plastering methods. Also covers repair and reinstatement for older properties. Please note that a safety induction on the first day is mandatory for this course.  
