SUMMER EVENTS 2018 for prospective students
INFORMATION FOR SCHOOLS Please find in this booklet information on upcoming events at Sussex Downs College. These events have been designed with your students in mind. The merger of Sussex Downs and Sussex Coast Colleges has formed the East Sussex College Group and one of the Group’s key priorities is to increase the range of quality courses available. Our staff are experienced, enthusiastic and happy to help each student who is keen to learn and be challenged in their chosen subject. Prospective students will find a wide range of courses and qualifications on offer at the College. I look forward to meeting new students in September and in the meantime, would like to wish them the very best of luck on their exams. Clive Cooke

Intro Days are a chance for students who have been offered a place for September 2018 to meet their tutors, trial a day on their chosen course/s and explore our campus. It is the official start of ‘college life’ and an important event for students to attend in preparation for September. Students will have received their schedule from their course leader in the post. On arrival students will be registered and given their timetable for the day. Refreshments will be available. Following this they will attend a short welcome talk. Student Ambassadors will be on hand to show new students around and to talk about college life. There will be a designated Help Desk for any questions or concerns on the day. This will be located and sign posted at the Information Centre in ECAT House (Eastbourne campus) and room LC147 Cliffe Building (Lewes). Taster Days are a great opportunity for your Year 10’s to visit College and start thinking about life after year 11. On arrival they will be given a personalised timetable with up to four of their chosen subject areas to trial before setting off to explore the campus. Throughout the day they will have plenty of time with our teaching staff to ask specific questions about the courses we offer (and get immediate answers), speak to current students about their experiences at College and also meet fellow Year 10s from local schools. We provide a range of lunchtime activities to keep them busy, from table tennis and volleyball to live music and mini hair and beauty treatments – and encourage as much participation as possible!
