Welcome
Quality, Care and Success AT SUSSEX DOWNS INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE
We are delighted that you are interested in finding out more about studying at Sussex Downs International College. We are a high quality college based in the beautiful South Downs area of South East England. We have two campuses: one on the south coast at Eastbourne and one in the historic county town of Lewes. We are a government college with accreditation from the British Council for our English language provision. In our 2014 British Council inspection report we achieved 12 out of 15 strengths, and we therefore retain our position as one of the top English language providers in the UK. *
We are also proud to have won an award for Excellence in International Student Support in Further Education from the National Union of Students and the UK Council for International Student Affairs.
Our website: www.sussexdowns.ac.uk/ international will give you up-todate information on the work and activities of our students and staff, and we encourage you to look at this too.
We employ a full-time Immigration Compliance Officer to help advise you on all aspects of student visas. We have around 3,000 full-time UK students, in addition to 300 international students from around 40 different countries. This rich mix of cultures and backgrounds makes for a vibrant, exciting and welcoming learning community.
Following feedback received from agents, we have decided to develop our successful English Language Plus course to run all year round with no half term breaks so students can join at any time of the year.
We are very proud of our students and their achievements. Examination results are consistently outstanding; in 2016, 85% of international students achieved grades A*-C in their final A Level results with a 100% pass rate. Our students have progressed to Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Durham and to many other top universities and conservatoires, including those outside the UK such as Harvard University and the University of Hong Kong. Our English language examination results are outstanding and have been above national averages for the past three years. Cambridge PET and FCE exams had 100% success and CAE candidates achieved 86% success. The IELTS exam average went up to over 6.0. We hope that this prospectus will give you a clear idea of what we have to offer.
We have also introduced exciting new courses such as the 15 Hour English Plus Unpaid Work Experience for EU students to keep pace with an ever changing international education market. Sussex Downs College is definitely the place if you are seeking high quality learning, new experiences and the opportunity to meet people from a wide range of backgrounds. We look forward to welcoming you! Mike Hopkins Principal & Chief Executive (Pictured top) Mark Allen International Director

Laurent Fernex “I am a French national living in Switzerland. I work for Harley-Davidson selling their motorbikes around the world. I chose Sussex Downs College because they offer Gold Standard one to one intensive lessons. I needed to improve my English rapidly as it is necessary for my work selling motorbikes to international clients.
Lewes is a great town to study in as it is peaceful but interesting and very typically English in style. The teachers were very enthusiastic and there is no doubt that I have greatly increased my confidence in speaking English even in just two weeks. I will now return to Switzerland and continue the good work I have done with Sussex Downs College at a private language school.”

I joined the choir during my stay at the College and this enabled me to make British friends. I teach singing in Japan and because of my course I will be able to explain intonation and stress of English songs better to my students. My teachers at Sussex Downs have been wonderful and full of enthusiasm and I have been really impressed by the standard of their teaching. The lessons are so well prepared and organised.”
