Elderberry,

Zinc & Vitamin C

3Crucial Ingredients1 Immunity Boosting Supplement

With cold and flu season approaching, the immune system needs all the support it can get to give the body its best defense. Afterall, a strong immune system is the backbone of good health. That’s why we’ve formulated a new Elderberry, Zinc and Vitamin C product that is designed to bolster the immune system in its fight against colds, viruses and any other foreign invaders. Our immune systems are all unique and a healthy system can provide multiple responses against infectious agents. Elderberry, zinc and Vitamin C have all been shown to support and fortify the immune system’s defense for the body.1-4 Here’s how these powerhouse ingredients support the immune system: n Elderberry contains antioxidants that work with the body to strengthen its immune response against foreign invaders.1 Its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties have been used to fight cold and flu symptoms.1 n Zinc is a trace mineral and has been cited as the “gatekeeper of immune function.” Its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties help regulate the immune system’s response.2 n Vitamin C is an essential nutrient and is vital to the function of white blood cells. Vitamin C’s antioxidant properties support immune defense and has been shown to prevent and treat respiratory and systemic infections.3

WHY CONSUME THESE THREE INGREDIENTS FOR IMMUNE HEALTH?

Taking a supplement can help ensure you get enough of these nutrients in your daily diet because what we consume in our daily diet has an impact on our overall health. This is especially important as the standard western diet does not contain all the nutrients our bodies require, which include Vitamin C.4 Nutrients such as Vitamin C are not created or stored naturally in the body and are therefore a necessary component in a daily diet. Zinc is an essential micronutrient and deficiency has been associated with imbalance immune reactions for allergies and autoimmune diseases.2 Fruits such as elderberry may not be incorporated into your everyday diet. Consuming the nutrients this antioxidant carrying fruit contains has the potential to benefit the immune system by tackling upper respiratory symptoms, especially important during cold and flu season.5 Keep reading to learn more about the benefits this fruit can offer.

Discover the Benefits of Elderberry

WHAT IS ELDERBERRY?

Elderberry is a small fruit that can range from a red, blue to deep purple hue due to antioxidants called anthocyanins. Elderberry contains antioxidant flavonols, in addition to anthocyanins, up to 10 times the amount that’s in average berries.1 There are different species of elderberry, the most common being Sambucus nigra L. and S. canadensis L., which can be found in Europe and the United States. Our new Elderberry product contains Sambucas nigra, also known as black elderberry extract. Black elderberry has been commonly used to boost immune health and tackle symptoms from viruses such as influenza.2

WHY IS IT BENEFICIAL?

Elderberry consumers tend to be more health conscious than the average consumer, as their antioxidant properties can contribute to a well-balanced diet.3 Consuming nutrients that support the immune system can help keep it running smoothly as it works on producing an accurate response to any foreign agent in the body. When it comes to immune health, preparation is key. Ensuring we have a healthy and balanced diet containing immune boosting sustenance can help prepare our immune system for any negative foreign substance that enters the body. Elderberry’s potential benefit for immunity lies in its anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antibacterial properties.3

LEARN ABOUT ITS IMMUNE-BOOSTING QUALITIES

Elderberry’s antioxidant content have been found to reduce upper respiratory symptoms due to viral infections.4 Research has also shown that elderberry has been effectively used to combat cold symptoms including nasal obstruction, sore throat and cough.5 One study found that one group of air travellers who consumed elderberry experienced less days with cold symptoms than another group of air travellers who did not consume elderberry.5 With numerous studies supporting elderberry’s immune supporting capabilities, it’s clear one of its main health benefits lie in its antioxidant content. Its traditional and historical medicinal uses are still being touted today, especially to help reduce symptoms and duration of the common cold and flu.
