Our Mission‌ if we chose to accept. (we did)

Mission:

Our mission was to create a television series to outline the Approach: lessons we learned in our Principles of Management • We used finger puppets as characters to course. portray the story we created. Plot development and concepts were emphasized with drama and humor.

Concepts • Mad Management is a television series in an

office setting, that focuses on ethical decision making, interpersonal relationships and rationality.

Plot Development • The setting is a large office in downtown St. Petersburg and the surrounding area.

In our story Jacob is whistle blower and Phil is a manager that breaks the code of ethics.

Jacob uses the company’s code of conduct, training, and communication to effect his decisions and behavior.

Target Market • Our target audience is the general

workforce between ages twenty-three and forty.

Character Profiles

Phil • Ambitious and extroverted, Phil is a born leader. He gives back to the

community and is an excellent provider for his family, bringing home a six-figure income. With exceptional social skills, he is good at interpersonal relations, making him a perfectly qualified manager for LBEST Advertising Inc. His employees are happy working for him and board members respect him, as he is an all around good guy, easy going, and makes the workplace less stressful. He works hard and has helped the company to grow and expand via his innovative and creative ideas. He has built employee loyalty and has kept the board members happy and wealthy.

• Unfortunately, the chronic stress that comes with the job has lead

Phil to go from a drink or two after work, to a few drinks in his private office during work hours. His alcohol problem has slowly lead to a decline in the organization’s productivity and profit.

Jacob

• Jacob, who is introverted and shy, is an accountant for

LBEST and works under the management of Phil. He keeps to himself and generally stays at home with his cat, Lisa. His misplaced insecurities interfere with his advancement at work and his social life. He has had a crush on his friend and neighbor for years now and has not been able to act on it.

Although he keeps to himself, Jacob has outstanding morals and ethical value. He takes pride in doing what is right, even though this may be difficult at times. We’ll see Jacob struggle to choose between his relationship with Phil and doing what is right for LBEST.

Karen • Karen is extroverted and has no inhibitions when it

comes to getting what she wants. She uses her sexuality to manipulate people to get what her way. She is known for exploiting people for her own gain, which we will see happen between her and Jacob later on.

• Karen has been a neighbor of Jacob for a long time now

and has been aware of Jacob’s feelings for her. It is only now that she is aware of his emerging situation at work, that she decides to associate with him.

Sarah • An extrovert and the human

resources representative. She is a rational decision maker that holds no bias. Sarah also has great communication skills and is very good at problem solving.

Our group met at the Grind to finalize our vision for the booklet. We followed the feedback from Steve and implemented new ideas.

Intro to Storyboard LBEST Advertising, Inc. is a digital advertising firm in St. Petersburg, Fl. Phil, the general manager likes to have an occasional drink at the local tavern. He is revered by his employees for being an outstanding manager. However throughout the years of success his drinking habits have gotten worse. This has led to less productivity, which in turn has made him start to commit tax fraud to keep his revenue high. Jacob, Phil’s account, oversees the company’s finance and has realized that the company’s financial activities aren’t matching up to the books. Jacob confronts Phil about this, at which time Phil admits to cooking the books and explains that everyone is making money and that no one will find out and offers Jacob money to keep it concealed. Jacob confides in his close friend Karen for decision making. Karen tells him he should take the bribe and keep his mouth shut. After a long thought process, Jacob decides to whistle blow.

Summary

Although sometimes through unconventional mediums, throughout this course our group has learned many managerial concepts. When we first met, our group began by getting to know each other rather than trying to jump into the task. While doing so we realized that we unintentionally started to brainstorm about our television series. We meshed well as a group because we were all responsible and had a similar strategy.

In our first meeting we organized and planned the outline of our television series. Every member of our group contributed to the storyline. We developed the general concept of the episodes as well as how to execute each portion of series ad than developed further from there. Our communication was great, which made the development of our story quite easy.

While working on our project we grew as a group. Our trust and flexibility amongst our team made this project quite enjoyable. Along the way our group has realized that we have implemented concepts learned in the course without noticing. Having a similar goal, motivation, organization, and communication made this project enjoyable and educational. Although unconventional, learning thorough doing supplied a better learning experience compared to learning by the book.
