When talking about the different changes within an organization, we all know there are many. There are also plenty of reasons why organizations experience these changes. For some examples, there are economic factors, legal and political developments, societal and demographic shifts, competitors’ actions, as well as technology developments (APA citation here, see site provided). These are all very common reasons why a company needs to experience a change. As I have previously mentioned many times, I work for a corporate company named Outback Steakhouse. I feel that this company is an ideal example of anything to do with organization changes because they have been around long enough and experienced basically every problem possible that would require change. Competitors’ actions is a huge trigger within a restaurant company because they are always trying to explore options that best suits customers’ preferences (APA citation here, see site provided). One change that has happened very recently is the choice to run a rewards system for returning customers to cash in on great deals. They wanted to reward the customers that always visit, as well as bring a reason for new customers to keep coming back. This was definitely not an idea that Outback Steakhouse came up with. Rewards programs are a very popular choice within restaurant chains such as Glory Days Grill, Texas Roadhouse, BJ’s Restaurant and Brew House, and many more. Outback Steakhouse noticed the great feedback from their competitors and decided to adopt this idea as well. In addition to forces outside the organization inspiring change, there are also many factors within an organization that can cause change (APA citation here, see site provided). One of the greatest forms is when employee suggestions and preferences can make an impact on an entire work force. Many think that only managers can really produce a difference in a company, but managers are not the only individuals with great ideas. Lower-level employees are also a great source of innovative suggestions for change (APA citation here, see site provided). Outback Steakhouse is a great company that continuously sends out announcements for people to share their ideas for the company. Our takeaway staff have all been in the business for a while, to the point that our managers trust us to basically run that department of the building ourselves. None of the managers know the takeaway routine better than we do. When we hold meetings, the managers are always asking us questions such as, “How do you want to rearrange your work station to best handle the high-volume business?” Also, “What do you think will make executing your goals easier? What do you think we can do to change the current problems?” It really is a great idea for a manager to make your employees feel they have a say in operating the business because no one knows the job better than the people who perform those jobs. Organizations are always changing and there are many reasons why. From outside the company to inside the company, changes should always happen to keep the organization within close reach of their competitors. Economic factors, legal and political developments, societal and demographic shifts, competitors’ actions, as well as technology developments are all very good reasons to conduct change, however the reasons are endless (APA citation here, see site provided).
