Section 3. Comments The following two open-ended questions are responses from your students pertaining to you, and the course.
Please provide any additional comments with respect to Stephen Diasio. Comment Steve Diasio is unique in that not many professors are as passionate about teaching and put quite so much effort into trying to do what they feel is best for their students. Professor Diasio teaches in a very different way that makes his class very enjoyable. I learned a lot in this class and really enjoyed the experience of working with an actual company for our group project. Professor Diasio is very creative which makes for a fun learning experience. However it would be nice to have been given stricter guidelines on certain aspects of the assignments. This made it difficult to understand exactly what he was expecting from you sometimes. Also it would have been helpful to have more preparation for the final exam so that students know what to expect and what to study for. Amazing professer! Awesome professor!!!!!!! The professor is very engaging and cares very much about the student and their learning process. The project was valuable and applicable to real-world problems, which is exactly what we need as we enter the workforce as graduates. Great teacher, shows interest in the subject and genuine about the learning of his students. Always a pleasure having Professor Diasio as an instructor, with leftover Sentiments from taking his Principles of Management course. Excellent teacher and very easy to talk to, Great guy. Always enjoyed his classes. Dr. Diasio was a great teacher with a very different view on how teaching should be. It was more out of the box, more involving in real life, and a class I'll surely remember. Professor Diasio is incredibly passionate about teaching and truly goes the extra mile for his students. I appreciate the effort he has put forth to work with a real organization. I enjoyed the project with the moorings, being able to work with a real company on a project has taught me So much and I'm sure there was a lot of work to put into that from the professors own time. Dr. Diasio is a really enthusiastic teacher and is passionate about what he does. It is clearly evident that he works hard to put the course together for us and find plenty of unique ways to learn the objectives. This class is definitely one that differs from the others and students who are looking to just sit in a class and exist for 3 hours need not take him because he will definitely get you out of your box. He is very energetic and cares about what he does. Sometimes we are focused and he makes us play games which frustrates us because we're in the work zone. Great, enthustiastic and real Very funny and interesting

Please provide any additional comments with respect to GEB4890 Strategic Mgmt/Decision Making. Comment Misguided effort characterizes my feelings on where this class went wrong. While it was clear that he was putting in considerable effort in trying to create the best learning experience for his students, it was unfortunately likewise clear that he didn't quite understand how to effective go about this. In my perspective, the schooling system follow a dual initiative of both teaching and evaluating and this class fails to succeed on either front. The evaluation portion of the class had a few separate components; there were ten reflective writing logs based on the chapters of the text which are collectively worth 10% of your grade, there's a final exam which is worth 20% of the grade, and the cornerstone of the class is a massive group project spread across a number of milestones which is collectively worth 60%. The instructor paid essentially no attention to the writing logs or final exam, electing to mostly ignore the content of the textbook and decided to focus his effort on the group project. Viewing the entire course through the lens of a single project ended up as a major weakness since doing so caused the majority of the concept covered in the text to be completely ignored, and those that were used were only taught in an extremely limited context. From an evaluation perspective, the single project approach was also a core weakness of the class. For one, with 60% of your grade in the class being tied up in a group project, individual evaluation becomes much more difficult, this is especially true when students are working in the same group for the length of the entire semester, where it becomes impossible to separate the contributions of an individual from the group he's working in. I agree that adaptability and teamwork are valuable skills that should be quantitatively evaluated even if it can be rather difficult to do so, but the approach that this course took on its attempt to do such was clearly flawed. I can see why many students have positive attitudes towards this class, the instructor takes an unconventional approach to teaching , which I do appreciate, and he has a great attitude which makes hi immediately likeable. He also tends to be an extremely lenient grader when it comes to the group project, which makes it even more useless as an evaluation tool than it already was. The group that got the lowest grade on the final presentation, which is 20% of your grade in the class, and a third of your grade on the project, got and 86%. When even the weakest students in the class can so easily get such high grades on the group project which makes up the majority of one's grade in the class, it's clear where much of his popularity comes from. This is the best version of the GEB class Enjoyed the opportunity for experience and practice for the real world application of course material into a project with a real business client. Good, but could have been less focused on Marketing. I feel this course is important to COB. It shows the importance of strategy in the marketplace. Enjoyed this class but needs to involve other majors such as finance, accounting, IT. I wish that, for our project with The Moorings, we had the chance to evaluate the groups we worked with. Since a majority of our points for this class relied on the group work, it is not fair that if one person in the group - like myself - did all of the work and therefore the group members got the grade that reflects the work I did. It is not fair and as a senior level, exit requirement class this should not be acceptable. This was what really made me dislike the class because we are all adults getting ready to enter the real world, and when I would bring this to the attention of the professor he would just say practice more. The class was all about marketing. my understanding of this class was that we were going to utilize all concepts learned such as finance, accounting, IT, etc. Maybe other projects with different requirements to accommodate and motivate students with other interest. I think that for this class, more justification needs to be given for why we are giving a big company a free marketing plan. We were told "so that you have real world experience" but most of us are doing these at our jobs and internships so tensions were high about why we were putting this together for free. I think it would be better to have more than one project option - with six groups researching and presenting on the same organization it got a little monotonous. Great
