Boston music critic David Moran said of Emanuel Ax’s performance of Beethoven: “To my knowledge there has never been piano performance more beautiful, cushier, richer … never before another of such tone and evenness and roundness. Emanuel Ax is simply superhuman in these respects.”
World-renowned pianist Ax launched the SDSO’s centennial season with Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto in May, 2021. This performance marks the finale of Mr. Ax’s week-long SDSO residency, including concerts at local schools, hospitals, and community centers.
