Barb and her Lady Hardrocker basketball team have held numerous clinics and camps to teach young boys and girls the fundamentals of basketball and teach them the true spirit of competition. Felderman was honored as South Dakota College Coach-of-the-Year by sportswriters in 1991 and 1998 and has been named SDIC Basketball Coach-of-the Year three times. The Lady Hardrockers have been named South Dakota Women's College team of the year on two occasions by the South Dakota Sportswriters Association.
LORI Coble, Assistant Coach
Kanen Poooell, Assistant Coacb
Tora Maboa, Assistant Coach
Lori Coble has been a valuable member of the Hardrocker athletic program for the last 22 years as the women's assistant basketball coach. Her dedication to the Lady Hardrocker teams and helpful coaching insights have been a big part of Tech's success over the years. A native of Presho, SD, Coble graduated from Dakota State where she played four years for the Lady Trojans and was recently inducted into the DSU athletic Hall of Fame. She coached at Plankinton for one season before moving to Rapid City. Coble is part owner of B&L Bagels in Rapid City, an instructor in the Biology Department at Tech, and is a member of the Hardrock Club Executive Board.
Karen Powell has joined the South Dakota Tech athletic staff as a full time women's basketball assistant coach under Barb Felderman. She will serve as the program's recruiting coordinator, as well as assisting in practice and other aspects of the Lady Hardrocker program. Powell, a graduate of Southern Illinois University and a native of Lancaster, Kentucky, had served as the assistant women's basketball coach at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY since 2002. A four-year letter winner at SIU, Powell played in the 1992 NCAA Tournament and was the 1994 NCAA 3-point Shootout national champion televised on ESPN.
Tom Mahon begins his fourth season assisting Coach Felderman with the Lady Hardrocker basketball program. Tom has a wealth of successful coaching experience, most recently at Ft. Hays State in Kansas. Mahon coached seven consecutive winning seasons and compiled an overall record of 137-87 with the Lady Tigers. He won two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships and his 1994-95 team finished with the second best record in school history (23-6). Prior to coaching Ft. Brenda Bassett
Position: Guard Hometown: Lewistown, MT
Height: 5'6" Major: Chemistry
Parents: Jim & Artha Bassett Brenda knows what championships feel like as Lewistown is the reigning State 'A' Champs of Montana. A gifted athlete with great fundamentals, Brenda will give the Lady Hardrockers depth in the guard position. She has a beautiful outside shot with the ability to penetrate to the basket. Brenda is very coachable and willing to learn the system. The person she admires most is her mother Artha. Her craziest ambition is to buy a sail boat.
Melanie Vedvei
14 Position: Guard Hometown: Lake Preston, SD
Height: 57" Major: Industrial Engineering
Parents: Alan & Deb Vedvei The missing piece to our puzzle-Melanie is a prototype point guard with all the tools. No one is happier to have her on our Lady Hardrocker team than big sister Stacie. Mel has the desire to improve and be the best. As an all-state player she knows what has to get done. It is difficult to 'make' a point guard... they are special athletes with special talentsMelanie will be a good one. If Melanie would ever write an autobiography the title depicts her thoughts "Melanie, Living Life to the Fullest."

Chellsie Smith
Position: Forward Hometown: Union Center, SD
FRestaroan Height: 5'10" Major: Interdisciplinary Sciences
Parents: Earl & Melody Smith This girl is a complete athlete. With a little time she will be a great addition as a utility player. As a state high jumper with a personal record at a height of 5'4" she will show rebounding is just part of her game. When given some things to work on she has already become a more complete player. Chellsie will do whatever it takes. Also, a rodeo star she has excelled at the national level like her mom Melody. Skydiving is her craziest ambition.
24
Jennie Malone
Position: Guard Hometown: Rapid City, SD
Height: 5'10" Major: Undecided
Parents: Steve & Cherrie Malone Jennie was a Lady Hardrocker years ago! Yes, Jennie was our ball girl growing up and hoped one day to join the the tradition-rich program. As a 3-year starting point guard for Rapid City Central she has competed against the best. She sees the court very well, and is a tough defender. An academic all-stater too, Jennie will have to budget her time as she is also a member of the volleyball team. Other interesting trivia concerning Jennie is that her dad Steve was a South Dakota Tech standout basketball player years ago. Also, her big brother Mike is a student at Tech and leads the school spirit as Tech's Mascot 'Grubby'.

Parents: Kelly & Connie Leis Cori enters her senior year having played every position, including point guard during her past 3 years as a Lady Hardrocker. A standout player in high school, Cori has improved on every aspect of the game and has developed a consistent shoot with her range extending out 1o the 3pt line. Her ball-handling skills have been a big asset to us versus pressing teams. Her athleticism and her untiring work ethic have made her a valuable defender with the ability to defend perimeter players or much bigger post players. In spite of her smaller size, her explosiveness inside has left many a disgruntled opponent in the post position. However, her many skills are complimented by her biggest attribute: unselfishness, and display of a true team player. Not once has she ever said she couldn't or didn't want to... when asked she does. Cori's best advice anyone has ever given her was, "some succeed because they are destined to... most succeed because they are determined to." Her greatest moment in sports thus far was having been named Rapid City's College Female Athlete of the Year. (Just like her dad and uncle were named male athlete a few years ago!)

Parents: Paul & Geri Godecke Quinn has worked hard and has developed into a great defensive player with a huge desire to outwork, outsmart, and outmaneuver her opponent. Being the taiiest person on the team she came on strong last year in defensive rebounding. Quinn is a very smart player, who knows the game and has the ability to see what needs to be done. It will be exciting this year to see her bring the knowledge and her refined offensive moves to the court. Quinn is very versatile and has the ability to hit the outside shot when called upon. She is an unselfish team player and provides a positive boost to every game. If given the chance to trade places with one person for a day it would be Katie Couric. Her favorite food is Italian (which is good considering all the pizza we eat!)

Parents: Kelly & Debra Barnes "A phenomenal athlete"... is the best way to describe Megan. She is a two sport participant who originally came to Tech to play volleyball, and that she did. She was an All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American power hitter who dominated the court in volleyball, Megan liked what she saw in the Lady Hardrocker basketball team so she joined during her sophomore year and has been a very positive influence ever since. At 5'10" and with great leaping ability and the ability to shoot the '3' "Megs" can be used inside and outside. She has worked very hard to hone her overall skills. With her volleyball eligibility used up it will be a big plus to have her play in all the games. 'Barney' is a driven leader who leads by example on and off the court. As an industrial engineering major she is planning to begin her master's degree after graduation in May. Megan's craziest ambition is to go heliskiing and her favorite TV show is Forensic Files.

Parents: Bill & Pat Gibson Billie keeps making progress. Another small post in High School Billie has had to develop an outside game...and that she has. Offensively she has a nice outside shot and will take it to the hoop. Her desire to succeed and her athleticism turned her into one of our best defenders last year. When given a task, it is very comforting to know it will get done to a tee. She is very coachable and very smart. Before choosing basketball as her sport Billie was an accomplished top level gymnast. Off the court she enjoys gourmet cooking and hopes to start a restaurant someday.

Offensively, not only is Stacie accomplished in the low post area but can nail the '3' consistently and was the teams best free throw shooter. What is really unique is that she may have a secret desire to be a point guard! Many times she will bring the ball down the court even against pressure. During the off-season Stacie has worked on additional moves and counters. She is excited for this final year.
