South Dakota School of Mines and Technology Founded in 1885, the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology is a science and engineering research university located in Rapid City, S.D., offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. For the 2013-1014 academic year, the university enrolls 2,640 students from 45 states and 37 countries, with a student-to-faculty ratio of 14:1. From Geology and Mining Engineering to Particle Physics and Atmospheric Sciences, SD Mines graduates are in high demand. They have a sound foundation in their profession and most have real world experience to make them highly competitive for the best paying jobs in America. An astonishing 98 percent of SD Mines undergraduates have a job, or a place in graduate school, upon graduation at an average starting salary of $62,400. South Dakota Mines offers a demanding, hands-on education with a 14:1 studentto-faculty ratio. The facilities at South Dakota Mines are second-to-none with a unique drive-in football stadium with turfed field and new locker rooms as well as a gymnasium with state-of the art upgrades and generous seating capacities.

Sophomore Gilbert, Ariz. / Campo Verde Guarneri was selected to the RMAC All-Tournament team last season following 14 saves in two games. The Gilbert, Arizona native finished fifth in NCAA DII save percentage with an astounding .848%, while only allowing .761 goals against on average. He posted 11 clean sheets during the 2015 campaign, along with making 78 saves.

HEAD COACH JORDAN KADLEC Jordan Kadlec is in his second season as the head of the Hardrocker men’s soccer program. Kadlec served as SD Mines men’s soccer assistant coach for one season (2014) aiding the Hardrocker program as it competed in its final season as an affiliate member the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) as well as duties in the Sports Information Office assisting head Sports Information Director Brad Blume. Kadlec came to SD Mines after stints at Grand Junction Soccer Club in Colorado and the University of the Cumberlands (Ky). While in Grand Junction, Kadlec was the head coach for the Under-11 boys’ and Under-14 girls’ premier teams. At Cumberlands, Kadlec served as a graduate assistant and was responsible for recruiting, daily training of goalkeepers as well as monitoring the academic progress of the student-athletes. Kadlec has a strong playing background, graduating from Drake University (Iowa) in 2012 with a degree in Finance. Kadlec spent five years as a goalkeeper for the Bulldogs men’s soccer program where he helped Drake reach the NCAA Div. I Championship Tournament in 2008 and the NCAA Elite 8 in 2009. In his final two years of collegiate competition, Kadlec earned accolades including: two-time Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) All-Tournament Team, two-time MVC Honorable Mention Team, three-time MVC Defensive Player of the Week, and once was named the College Soccer News National goalkeeper of The Week. With the promotion, Kadlec becomes the second coach of a Hardrocker men’s soccer program which began just three years ago (2012). “After serving as an assistant, I knew the South Dakota School of Mines was somewhere I wanted to continue my coaching career,” Kadlec said. “The culture of the Hardrocker Athletic Dept. is second to none and I’m extremely excited to continue to be a part of it.


ATHLETIC TRAINER SHAUN SKAVANG After a brief stint in 2014, Skanvang returns to the Hardrocker Athletic Training Staff and is in his second full year. In 2014, Skavang was the head athletic trainer at LCCC. He also spent time with the Minnesota Vikings serving as a training camp and pre-season intern where he assisted with treatment and rehabilitation of injured players.

ASSISTANT COACH ANDREW CONNIFF Andrew Conniff is in his second year as asssistant soccer coach and assistant Sports Information Director. Conniff joins the Hardrocker Athletics staff after playing a season with the Brisbane Wolves in Australia in 2014. Conniff received his Master’s degree in Sport Law and Society from Leeds Beckett University in England. While studying, Conniff played with Eccleshill United, a semi-professional club, and had the opportunity to train with Bradford City’s Under-21 team. Conniff grew up in Corvallis, Oregon where he played for Corvallis United Soccer Club and then Eugene Metros FC.

Skavang was an athletic trainer responsible for covering all home games during the 2013 season for the University of Wyoming football team. From 2011 to 2013, Skavang was a graduate assistant athletic trainer at UW. Skavang is a 2011 graduate of Minnesota State University where he received a Bachelor of Athletic Training degree. In May of 2013, Skavang earned a Master of Science degree in Kinesiology and Health from the University of Wyoming.

STRENGTH COACH ALEX JARDINE Jardine joins the Hardrocker Family from South Dakota State University, where he served as a graduate assistant to their strength and conditioning program. While at SDSU, Jardine was able to work with athletes from nearly every sport including: track and field, tennis, equestrian, cheer, football, basketball, and soccer. Prior to his time at SDSU, Jardine was a sports performance intern at the University of Colorado. Jardine completed his undergraduate degree in Integrated Physiology with an emphasis on Exercise Science at UC - Boulder. Jardine is certified by the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches Association, the National Strength & Conditioning Association, and by USA Weightlifting.
