WOMEN’S BASKETBALL HEAD COACH RYAN LARSEN Ryan Larsen begins his fourth year as head coach of the Hardrockers Women’s Basketball program. In his first season as Head Coach, Larsen led the Hardrockers to a 10-16 mark facing a challenging Div.II independent schedule. The Hardrockers faced seven teams who were ranked or receiving votes in the NCAA DII top 25. After starting the first half of the season slowly the Hardrockers progressed nicely finishing the second half of the year with a 7-5 record. Defensively the Hardrockers shined during that span giving up an average of 60 points per game. Larsen became a Hardrocker after serving five years in Vermillion, S.D., as the assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of South Dakota where he was the recruiting coordinator, scouting director, position coach for guards and posts, assisted the head coach with scheduling games and coordinated several off-season camps for the program. Larsen also aided the Coyotes in the institution’s transfer from NCAA Div. II to Div. I status. Prior to arriving at USD, Larsen was a member of the Augustana College men’s basketball staff from 2002-07. Along with his coaching duties, Larsen was also the recruiting coordinator for three seasons. During that time he recruited three high school student-athletes who earned player of the year honors from their respective states. From 1999-02 Larsen was at Minnesota State University-Moorhead. Larsen graduated from MSU Moorhead, earning his bachelor’s degree in 2002. He obtained his master’s degree from Augustana in 2004.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ASSISTANT COACH DALLAS RICHTER South Dakota School of Mines women’s basketball head coach Ryan Larsen is pleased to announce the addition of Dallas Richter to the Hardrocker coaching staff. Richter spent the past three seasons as the Rapid City Stevens High School girls’ basketball head coach. “Dallas Richter is an incredible addition for SD Mines Women’s Basketball,” Larsen said. “It’s not every day that you can add a coach of Dallas’s experience and knowledge to your basketball staff.” Prior to his time as the head coach, Richter was the assistant coach for five seasons at Rapid City Stevens. Richter has coached high school basketball in Box Elder and New Underwood as well, beginning his coaching career in 2004.

ASSISTANT COACH HOPE BONLANDER South Dakota School of Mines Athletics is pleased to announce the addition of Hope Bonlander the new Lady Hardrocker assistant women’s basketball coach. SD Mines women’s basketball head coach Ryan Larsen is very happy with his new hire. “Hope was a tremendous competitor and player at Southwest Minnesota State --- and played for a trusted friend in Allison Kruger.” Larsen said. “I’m excited about all Hope has to offer our players and the Hardrocker women’s basketball program.” Bonlander comes to SD Mines from the University of Sioux Falls (S.D.), where she served as a graduate assistant for their Lady Cougars basketball program. Prior to her time at USF, Bonlander played at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minn. While at SMSU, Bonlander received her bachelor’s of science in Physical Education with an emphasis on Sports Management.

“Coach Richter will be in charge of our post players as well splitting the scouting duties with Coach (Hope) Bonlander.” Richter studied at Western Dakota Tech receiving an ASD Certification in Computer-Aided Drafting. After his time at WDT, Richter also spent time studying at Northern State University as well as Black Hills State.
