Men and women shine at Iowa Classic and Bison Open

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits attended two track and field meets this past weekend at the Bison Open and the Iowa State Classic.

Jared Wipf matched his school record time in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 6.73 to finish second overall. Drew Olson followed in fourth at 6.84 and Evan Henderson at fifth with 6.85.
Jake Werner and Wipf both had top 10 finishes in the 200-meter dash with Werner finishing fifth with a time of 21.66 and Wipf running a 21.80 to place seventh.
In the 4x400 relay, the men’s ‘A’ team finished as the overall runner-up with a time of 3:17.15.
Distance runner Josh Becker cracked the SDSU top 10 in the 3000-meter race to come in at 8:14.05.
Rounding out the top 10 were Carson Noecker with an 8:17.04 sixth-place PR finish and Cody Larson in seventh with an 8:18.51 seventh-place PR finish.
Pierre Lierre had an 8.05 finish in the 60-meter hurdles finals, good for a third-place finish.
Thailan Hallman claimed fourth place in the 400-meter dash at 48.54.
Brandon Kampsen placed sixth in the 800meter run at 1:51.82, putting him seventh on the SDSU all-time list.
To claim possession of second all-time, Jaiden Boomsma ran a 7.48 which won her the 60-meter dash finals. Taking fifth in the same event was Rich-Ann Archer who finished with a time of 7.74.
Rounding out a strong day, Boomsma placed second overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.65.
Two of the top spots in the 400-meter dash were occupied by Jenna Johnson in fifth with 57.19 and Erika Kuntz in tenth with 58.00.
The 800-meter run had two top-10 finishes in which Harley Fischer ran a 2:16.03, good for fourth and Reese Luze debuted with a solid 2:16.55 ninth-place finish.
For the 3000-meter run, the women placed highly. Starting with Leah Hisken winning the event in 9:34.70. Also in the top 10 were Jessica Lutmer (9:51.88, fifth), Nicole Greyer (9:57.99, eighth) and finally Caitlin Bright (10:11.73, 10th).
Grace Waage ran a 4:53.05 mile to place second. Joining the SDSU all-time list at eighth, Claire Beckman placed fourth with a 4:54.86 time.
Now seventh on the all-time list, Tristen Hanna won the triple jump with a personal best of 48-02.00. Next Matt Katz was runner-up in the pole vault and cleared 16-03.25.

SDSU Indoor Classic:
Madison Kizer jumped 5-05.00 for fourth, Layne Kirkendoll placed fifth with 5-03.00 and lastly Hadley Carlson ended in ninth with 5-01.00.

The women had three top places in the high jump.
To finish ninth in triple jump Apryl Adderley had a mark of 36-04.25.
The women’s shot put finals had two Jackrabbits, Milee Young with a throw of 42-04.25 and Nora Butler in ninth with a 40-05.50.
