“I was very touched by the feeling of warmth and welcome from the moment I was greeted at the entrance DRUMBEAT PARENT
safe We have a wide range of abilities among our pupils and we always try to find and encourage their personal talents. DRUMBEAT staff are keen to develop a nurturing practice by putting relationships with students and families at the centre of what we are trying to achieve, through collaboration, understanding, empathy and trust.
sound
“At Drumbeat we are here for the children. We adapt the curriculum to the children we’ve got, not the other way around, to help them become the learners they want to be” KATIE CORNELL, ASSISTANT HEADTEACHER
caring We are proud to have a highly skilled and qualified cohort of staff at DRUMBEAT. Our team is dedicated to the wellbeing of our students and continue to develop their own knowledge and understanding, through CPD and research based practice.
experienced
“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured, or far away” HENRY DAVID THOREAU, WALDEN (1854)
engaging We place enormous importance on the role played by the families of our children – in fact the name DRUMBEAT was chosen by them; based on the quote above. We provide training courses for parents and professionals working with children on the autistic spectrum and our Outreach Team supports schools and families across the local authority.
supportive
“As a family we are extremely grateful to you and the team for putting on such a great summer holiday programme. David thoroughly enjoyed himself. Thank you so much DRUMBEAT PARENT
developing We have excellent links with local mainstream schools and are developing integration opportunities for some students. We organise residential trips and pupils have the opportunity to try horse riding, swimming and interschool sports programmes, as well as being able to take part in extended school activities such as in after school and holiday clubs.
thriving
“Each child learns in a different way and so it’s important to us that they have access to different kinds of learning environments and opportunities” SCOTT JARRED, DEPUTY HEADTEACHER

inspiring
“Time for me is all the same, I know not of its future. I only know I trust in ‘now’… tomorrow can come; I just need to know how” DR WENDY LAWSON ASPoetry: Illustrated poems from an Aspie Life, Jessica Kingsley Publishers (2006)
individual Our vision is simple: to put our young people first every time, by providing an education that meets each pupils’ individual needs providing them with rich and meaningful experiences.
