We work very closely with our
School Partnership so that we can
offer the best possible transition
from primary to secondary school.
WELCOMING NEW STUDENTS WHEN STUDENTS COME TO US from
their previous school it is important they
are immediately introduced to the caring, compassionate environment that we have created and that will be their ‘home away
from home’ for the duration of their time
with us.
WE HAVE SPECIAL AREAS for our year 7s so that they can feel secure in
that all important first year with us and we are developing a valuable student mentoring scheme
to help integrate different age groups.
WHATEVER THEIR AGE, we encourage all our students to develop in such a way
as to contribute to the atmosphere of safety and security that is so highly
valued by our members. We want the Hundred of Hoo School to be a place in
which the free flow of ideas and the
excitement of learning are unimpeded by bullying and where swift, effective support
is offered wherever needed.
WE BELIEVE that a school should be
a collaboration between children, staff,
parents and the local community and
we strive to ensure that every child
who comes here feels safe, supported
and happy.

sense of community as well as
wider social values.
A THRIVING COMMUNITY WE PLACE A STRONG EMPHASIS on personal achievement and have high expectations of all our students. We aim to help children
progress
and
achieve regardless of their starting point and
we are keen to treat every
child as an individual so that we can tailor
their education, encourage their strengths and support their weaknesses.
WE ARE DELIGHTED with the steady
improvement that we have seen in our students’ academic achievements in
recent years and are continually looking
for ways to enhance both their grades and the quality of their overall school experience.
WE PRIDE OURSELVES on being a
learning community in which pupils and
staff alike are encouraged to continually reflect on how well they perform and strive for improvement. Our staff believes
that success is something that anyone

At the Hundred of Hoo we believe
that education should not stop at
the end of the school day.
Children are complex, inquisitive
and energetic and so even the
most innovative and stimulating
curriculum cannot hope to meet
every need or stimulate every
personal interest.
GOING THE EXTRA MILE BECAUSE OF THIS we have developed a wide range of extracurricular activities that help to enhance and enrich all aspects of our students’ educational and social development.
IN LINE WITH THE CURRICULUM, we offer a comprehensive range of individual and group tuition, exam preparation
sessions
and
other
subject-specific
activities. However, we also host a variety of clubs and group activities covering
interests as diverse as dinghy sailing,
computer
animation,
environmental
science, model-making, sudoku and
photography.
WE ALSO PROVIDE our students with a
choice of sporting opportunities including
trampolining, rugby, gymnastics, tennis
and badminton. Our excellent sports
facilities and extensive pitches are
used regularly by our students, partner
primary schools, and the local community.

We are dedicated to helping our
students develop their individual
interests and passions and have
built up a range of amenities to
help them explore every possible
hobby, challenge or career path.
ENCOURAGING ADVENTURE IN VISION, our student production
company, uses our state of the art media
equipment and outstanding performing arts facilities to produce creative, musical and drama events that take place
throughout the school year. Our popular
Hoo’s Got Talent competition and the annual school production help bring children together as a community outside of the curriculum.
A
KEY
PART
of
our
schools extracurricular development programme is our ongoing quest to
help students experience the wider world.
We run a comprehensive programme of overseas trips in addition to those that
form part of the curriculum. Recent
activities have included skiing trips and
visits to New York, China, Iceland, Belgium and the Berlin Film Festival. It is our belief that students should be
encouraged to access and experience
diverse cultures and world views in order to help them develop into well rounded and compassionate adults.
AS WELL AS enabling students to
experience the exotic, we also encourage them
to
consider
their
own
local
community, to help them garner a sense
of belonging and social responsibility. Last year we initiated a very successful
and very moving programme of events designed around the theme of armistice week, which
helped our students to familiarise
themselves
with their own local history.
