Fundraising is fun Fundraising is a fantastic way for your staff to come together – good times for a worthwhile cause! Nominating the Scottish Seabird Centre as your chosen charity gives you an opportunity to have lots of wildlife and marine environmentbased fun. All your donations will be invested in the work of the charity, so why not celebrate gannet, puffin or seal season in style: – Gannets can dive at speeds of up to 60mph – host a diving competition or swimathon – Did you know puffins are the clowns of the sea – why not organise a fundraising comedy night? – Seal pups are born during winter. Organise a bake sale with seal shaped cookies or cupcakes to help you beat those winter blues.
Volunteering and team building SOS Puffin is the Scottish Seabird Centre’s awardwinning project to save the puffins on the islands in the Firth of Forth. One of the UK’s largest puffin colonies, numbers on the island of Craigleith had crashed from around 28,000 pairs to just a few thousand, due to a giant plant called tree mallow which was blocking the puffin burrows. Thanks to volunteer work parties puffin populations are now recovering, but your staff could be one of the groups who really help to secure their future – as well as experiencing a memorable and worthwhile team building day.
Give back The Scottish Seabird Centre is more than a visitor attraction – it is a charity committed to inspiring people to care for our wildlife and the natural environment. We are world-leaders in remote wildlife viewing. Our technology will allow your staff to control the interactive live cameras in the Discovery Centre to zoom in on amazing seasonal wildlife on the Firth of Forth islands, including the world-famous Bass Rock and Isle of May National Nature Reserve. The Bass Rock is the world’s largest Northern gannet colony and has been named Nature Reserve of the Year 2014 /15 by BBC Countryfile Magazine.
