Seaborn – mark of distinction Norwegian Salmon and Fjord Trout

Seaborn was established in 2001 by a number of small and medium-sized family-owned companies with a long experience and tradition of fish farming through generations. Local identity is important to our farmers and they are proud of the values they create in their respective districts in Norway. Our company is headquartered in Bergen and we also have a sales office in Sweden and sales representatives in the US. Seaborn has become one of the largest companies in Norway in the farming sector in record time, exporting to more than 60 countries. Seaborn has an unique position as a sales organi sation for Norwegian fish farmers, as the link between the market and the producers thanks to our professional and dynamic team who are available around the clock. We believe in the product and in the people involved throughout the process. Our 54 fish farms are located along the western coast of Norway up to the Lofoten Islands.

Quality and the environment

Contentment the decisive factor

It is our responsibility to ensure that our customers are satisfied. Finally, the customer decides whether the fish meets his/her expectations, which is the crucial test.

› A traceability system and a certificate of quality enable everyone to check each stage of the value chain.

› Food safety can be documented all the way from the parent fish throughout the entire value chain for every delivery from Seaborn. (*) Seaborn has the following certifications: Global Gap, ASC, GSSI, MSC, DEBIO

(**) Seaborn takes our impact on the environment seriously which is why continuously evaluate a number of measures to reduce our impact on the environment. We have a corporate sustainability strategy with set goals which enables us to reduce our impact on

Seaborn is currently using environmentally friendly plastic on all of our vacuum packed products. This environmentally friendly plastic is a green polyethylene which is made partly from plants, such as sugarcane. It is very positive for the environment that renewable resources are used. This plastic has a lower Co2 footprint compared to that of regular plastic.

Health and contentment are closely linked, which is why profitability throughout the value chain, from roe right through to the dinner plate, is dependent on the well-being of the fish.

This is just the beginning. Our aim is to use more environmentally friendly packaging on all of our products in the future. In Seaborn we care and we choose to take responsibility for our impact on the environment and we hope others in the industry will follow our lead. We are committed to protecting the planet. We listen to you and to your needs. We are here to meet the requirements of our current and future salmon and trout consumers. We see that our fish farmers and consumers appreciate our effort in protecting the planet. We are on this journey together and it pleases us that the new generation of consumers care as much about the environment as we do and we are especially grateful for their support

Norwegian Salmon

– for everyday meals and special occasions

Our Norwegian Salmon is the original Norwegian salmon, Salmon Salar, which belongs to the North Atlantic salmon stocks. Since the Ice Age, these fish have migrated to the Atlantic Ocean from their breeding grounds in Norwegian rivers. These rivers are cold all year because of the inflow of water from the glaciers and melting snow. Pho

Robust genes Over thousands of years in a demanding climate, the salmon has evolved robust genes that are well adapted to our ice-cold water. Farmed salmon has been developed from genetic material from Norway’s best salmon rivers. Contentment is the basis for growth and quality. Our fish farmers give the fish plenty of space in their marine cages and the best feed on the market.

Norwegian Fjord Trout

– the foundation of Norwegian fish farming The success story of Norwegian fish farming all started with the Norwegian Fjord Trout (Oncorhyn chus mykiss). This species thrives extremely well in the Norwegian fjords where the rivers swell with water from the glaciers and melting snow. This ensures a lower salt content and excellent growing conditions for trout.

dfi

The bright red colour and white marbling of its meat give an added dimension to the eating experience, and make it a feast for the eye on a beautifully laid table. Like salmon, Norwegian Fjord Trout is in demand among master chefs as well as in private kitchens.

sk

The pioneers of fish-farming in Norway started farming trout and some never left it. The experience gained from farming Norwegian Fjord Trout laid the foundations for the technology that made the farming of Norwegian Salmon possible ten years later.

Icelandic Salmon

– even closer to nature

From the cold, pure waters of the fiords in both Eastern and Western Iceland comes natural Icelandic salmon. In a remote environment our farmers keep it simple:

no GMOs no antibiotics no hormones nor mammalian or avian proteins reduced stress ensuring the fish’s welfare and contributing to optimal color

Just excellent salmon from an untouched place reared by Icelandic farmers who have fish in their DNA. Harvested and processed by a local facility ensuring optimal freshness due to Super Chilling technology, which chills the salmon down below freezing point of water within an hour. Although the temperature of the salmon is below freezing point of water, this salmon remains fresh and unfrozen. This process prevent rigor mortis and might extend the shelf life. Completely vertically integrated from egg to harvesting and packing to ensure complete traceability.
