ELASTO-QOTE® TOPCOAT Application Instruction: Surface Preparation Steel Product Information Product description: Elasto-Qote® TOPCOAT is a high performance very high-solids polyaspartic Topcoat. This flexible, durable and weather resistant coating is originally designed as Topcoat on top of ElastoQote® aromatic elastomers to provide excellent UV resistance and colour retention properties, but can also be used direct to metal and concrete for various other services. Features: 90% Solids Polyaspartic Low VOC User friendly 2:1 mixing ratio Excellent UV resistant and colour retention Fast set-time for reducing return to service time Can be applied by Airless spray, roller and brush Can be used for atmospheric as well for various immersion services Very good adhesion direct on concrete and steel substrates Not sensitive for humidity during application Special Accelerator for a faster cure is available Service temperature (dry) from -40 up to 120°C (-40 up to 266˚F) Can be applied from 5 up to 49˚C (41 up to 120˚F) High film build in one single multi-pass application Available in multiple colours (RAL)
Application examples Application: ultra high-performance Topcoat on top of Elasto-Qote® aromatic elastomers when UV resistance, colour retention and an easy to clean substrate is important. Platforms, atmospheric pipeline coating, external storage tanks, pools, park-decks, bridge-and tunnel constructions, Splash-zones, OEM and many other services.

Preventing condensation on the substrate
The area to be coated has to be clean, dry and free from oil, grease and dust. All contamination that could interfere with the adhesion of the coating has to be removed according to SSPCSP1. Within 12 hours (curing at 21˚C/70˚F) after application, the Elasto-Qote® aromatic polyurea elastomer can be topcoated without any surface preparation with the Elasto-Qote® TOPCOAT. Prior and during the surface preparation, the temperature of the substrate(s) must be at least 5˚F (3˚C) above the dew point.

Application Instruction: Brush and Roller Application Step 1

Mix the Part A and B separately until uniform in consistency. Mix part A and B together for an additional 2-3 minutes. For Brush and Roller applications the product may be diluted up to maximum 5% with Topcoat Diluant when required. After mixing, apply the product by using a good quality paint roller. Apply in one uniform layer to thoroughly wet and seal the substrate. Multiple layers may be required for optimum opacity. Although application by roller is preferred, the product can be applied by Airless equipment. Consult Elasto-Qote® for specific information.

The finished coating must be visually inspected for any defects, such as runs and sags, fisheyes, blistering, pinholes, missed spots and possible contaminants. Pinhole/Holiday detection must generated according to NACE SP0188 (for steel substrates only) The coating thickness (DFT) must be within the specified DFT range. Use calibrated equipment and measure according to SSPC-PA 2 or other specified standard. Pinholes/Holidays must be located and repaired with approved material. Consult Powercrete® for specific information. Retest the repaired area.
Cleaning Cleanup

Handling General
Transport and stacking is possible after full cure of the coating and generating a Holiday test (NACE SP0188). This time can be reduced by increasing the curing temperature. Consult Powercrete® for specific information.

Handling Storage
Handle with care. Keep containers upright. Store indoor, clean and dry, away from direct sunlight in a cool place between 65-85°F(1830°C). Keep from freezing. Shelf life 12 months in the original unopened containers.
