TAXONOMY YEAR 2012 MATERIALS Rhino Model & Bristol-Board Assemblage DESCRIPTION In my third semester I explored technology within the field of design; including modelling in Rhino and exporting via 3D Printers and Lasercutters. For this project we surveyed our urban site and chose a texture to influence our forthcoming design. We traversed the site and built a skin atop an unbiased scale matrix. Then I altered the matrix and designed a biased skin to reflect the found texture in the topography of the site. The final building is based on the concept of exhibition and observation of the process of wine making.

ThurtenE Carnival
TAXONOMY YEAR 2012 MATERIALS Digital Model and Full-Scale, Built Modular Structure DESCRIPTION As a Washington University and St. Louis tradition, ThurtenE Carnival is the longest student-run carnival in the world. Along with Kristen Nowotarski, I designed the theater structure, in which a student-produced play was performed. Our structure took advantage of several sustainable practices, including wood reclamation and material recycling. We were able to raise $8000 for our designated charity: KIPP Inspire Academy in St. Louis.

Yoga Cabin
TAXONOMY YEAR 2011 MATERIALS Digital Output & Styrene Model DESCRIPTION This is the culmination of my third semester in architecture school. The site for the yoga, meditation, and guest cabin is a small rural town: Rosebud, Missouri. I chose a location adjacent to the lake. My project proposes a ~2000 sqft concrete structure that “breaths off the prevailing winds across the lake, while deterring sunlight with hand-cranked louvers. Through its movement the building explores the joint between the forest and the water.

TAXONOMY YEAR 2010-2011 MATERIALS Lead Drawings, Stone & Wood Constructs DESCRIPTION Stone: Here I explored how stone forms horizontally underneath the Earth’s surface, yet is extracted by man to create vertical structures Wood: For this project I trimmed a log into thin strips, steamed them, and bent them into an organic composition; this is a scale model for a space where the university community may relax or work outdoors Space Brick: The project is composed of a main spine with dovetail joints that allow four partitions to move and explore light, shadow, and space.

Internship Experience
TAXONOMY YEAR 2011 MATERIALS Digital Models, Exported Renderings, Hand Drawings, & Brand Identity DESCRIPTION The following works are extractions from my internship at the Daniel Grimm Architecture firm. Although I performed many tasks, much of the work displayed here is digital modelling with accompanying renderings. In addition to 3D modelling I also worked with the architect to consider revising the brand identity of the firm.
