SEANC members stand up against State Health Plan overbilling Hospital lobbyists launched an all-out assault this week at the legislature to convince lawmakers to continue overcharging state employees and retirees for health care. If you’ll recall, the State Treasurer followed through on his promise to cut costs and bring transparency to our State Health Plan by demanding hospitals stop overcharging state employees and retirees for services. This would save more than $300 million in taxpayer money and put more than $60 million back in pockets of state employees and retirees. SEANC has pressed for these reforms for many years. But hospital lobbyists have asked legislators to undo them. If they're successful, state employees and retirees will keep overpaying for their health care. SEANC members reached out to their legislators this week to ask them to stand up for state employees and retirees in this fight. More than 1,200 emails have been sent to lawmakers since Wednesday. We can’t let up, because the hospital lobbyists aren’t.
