State's top newspapers endorse Dale Folwell for second term The state's two largest newspapers – The Charlotte Observer and the News & Observer – support Dale Folwell for re-election as Treasurer. The papers' joint editorial board stated, "Folwell has been impressively transparent himself, however, and we think he’s the right fit right now in this challenging financial climate. We recommend him." The papers also chose EMPAC-endorsed candidates Yvonne Lewis Holley for Lt. Governor, Beth Wood for State Auditor, Mike Causey for Commissioner of Insurance, Steve Troxler for Commissioner of Agriculture, Jessica Holmes for Commissioner of Labor and Elaine Marshall for Secretary of State.

Folwell's opponent wants to give your money to Wall Street! Ronnie Chatterji, who is running against Dale Folwell for State Treasurer, is determined to return our pension system back to the Wall Street money managers who want to charge us outrageous fees and jeopardize your retirement. In the video above, Chatterji is seen at a recent N.C. First Committee meeting agreeing with a plan from a private equity executive to leverage the $108

billion pension system to take care of Department of Transportation needs, even after that department overspent by $734 million. SEANC has fought long and hard to champion a Treasurer who will fight to keep Wall Street's greedy hands out of our pension system. We found that ally in Dale Folwell, who cut $350 million in fees paid to money managers in his first term in office. We must stand with him in this election! Take the pledge to Vote Folwell First when you get your ballot -- even before the presidential, governor or U.S. Senate races. As a state employee or retiree, re-electing Dale Folwell is the most important item on the ballot. Take the Pledge to Vote Folwell First!

SEANC voters already setting records at the polls! With 11 days left to go before Election Day, more than 46% of SEANC members have already cast their ballot! We've already surpassed our 2018 early vote number, and we're closing in on 2016. We can't let up now, though. We need EVERY state employee and retiree to go to the polls this year in support of our EMPAC-endorsed candidates. State employees and retirees can't afford to sit this year out. And we can't afford to vote party over our issues. We have to stand together to elect the people who will stand up and fight for retirees and state employees, regardless of the letter after their name. Your health care, pay raises and retirement are not partisan issues. Your vote shouldn't be, either. SEANC has fought long and hard to champion a Treasurer who will fight to keep Wall Street's greedy hands out of our pension system. We found that ally in Dale Folwell, who cut $350 million in fees paid to money managers in his first term in office. We also need the steady leadership of Gov. Roy Cooper in these difficult times. He has considered the voices of SEANC and state employees in all decisions he has made in the last four years, and SEANC has no doubt he will remain an ally in his second term.

SEANC members are proud to #VoteFolwellFirst We asked for videos from you sharing your support for Dale Folwell for State Treasurer, and boy did you respond! Now we need you to keep it up through Election Day. Send us a quick video on why you will be voting for Dale Folwell First. You will be featured on our social media outlets! Send us a video!

Election Day is Tuesday! More than 70% of SEANC members have already voted It's finally here. One of the most consequential elections in our history draws to a close Tuesday and SEANC members are turning out in record numbers. With four days left until Election Day, MORE THAN 70% of SEANC members who are registered voters either voted early or mailed in a ballot. That's an extraordinary number, but we still have work to do to get our endorsed candidates over the finish line. The polls are razor thin and your vote is more important than ever. SEANC members and their families will make the difference this election. Your health care, pay raises and retirement are not partisan issues. Your vote shouldn't be, either.

When you head to the polls, please think of yourself as a state employee or retiree first, not as a member of a political party. We can't afford to vote party over our issues. We have to stand together to elect our EMPAC-endorsed candidates who will stand up and fight for retirees and state employees, regardless of the letter after their name.

If you haven't already, you can vote today and tomorrow at Early Vote sites in your area. If you're not registered, you can register at one of the early vote sites. If you're planning on voting Tuesday, be prepared to wait in long lines. Take your masks. Find your polling place and make sure you are registered before you go. YOU CANNOT REGISTER AT A POLLING PLACE ON ELECTION DAY.

With four days left to go, we must finish strong to re-elect Dale Folwell as State Treasurer. Just this week, Folwell was commended for saving $198 million in Wall Street fees with our State Retirement System. He has fought to lower our health care costs by ending the secret contracts that have allowed millionaire health care executives to charge state employees and retirees up to 900 percent the Medicare rate for service and he’s gone head to head with Wall Street to bring our money back to North Carolina and out of the hands of out-of-state money managers. We need a leader with the political courage to stand up to Big Money and fight for North Carolina’s working families. We have that leader in Treasurer Dale Folwell. We also need the steady leadership of Gov. Roy Cooper in these difficult times, and we need to work to get Jessica Holmes across the finish line first in the Commissioner of Labor race. We need a fresh voice like Holmes leading that department, looking out for the needs of working families throughout the state. Click here for a look at all of our endorsed candidates, including the races for Council of State, three judicial seats, N.C. House and N.C. Senate.
