SEANC Wins Accountability Campaign Against Holliman In SEANC’s last TV commercial, voters in Davidson County were asked if “Ten years was long enough” for Majority Leader Hugh Holliman (DDavidson). On election night, voters answered “yes” by knocking Holliman out of office and electing Republican Rayne Brown by a wide margin – 57 percent-42 percent. Read more on SEANC’s Latest News.
General Assembly Goes GOP For the first time in 112 years, Republicans will control both chambers of the General Assembly when the legislature convenes on Jan. 26. SEANC Executive Director Dana Cope wrote to SEANC members, “SEANC is looking forward to working with the new leadership to open up the no-bid sweetheart deal with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina who administers the State Health Plan.” For more, read SEANC’s Latest News.

BOG Discusses Biennial Convention During the November BOG meeting, President Charles Johnson requested discussion on the concept of converting SEANC’s convention to occur every two years instead of annually as a cost-savings measure and to more closely align SEANC with the General Assembly’s two-year cycle. In the end, the BOG voted to authorize Bylaws Committee Chairman Cliff Brown to look into the bylaws changes needed to make this conversion.
