Questions Continue Over DHHS Hirings/Firings The N.C. Department of Health and Human Services and its leader, Dr. Aldona Wos, continue to make headlines over hirings and firings. Multiple stories this week detail the hiring of another McCrory supporter to a $95,000 a year, unadvertised position. Also the department released more details on the firing of Dr. Rebecca King, the head of the Oral Health Section, attempting to distance Wos from the firing. However, when DHHS spokesman Ricky Diaz was asked "whether Wos ordered or approved the dismissal, or [Wos] was unaware that King would be fired," Diaz did not reply. These latest headlines, in addition to Medicaid payment and other well-publicized concerns for the agency, have led some lawmakers to ask State Auditor Beth Wood to investigate “apparent systemic mismanagement. For the latest news or to make your voice heard check out our Facebook page.
