Senator Brendan Ryan, the only prospective North Dublin Labour party candidate at the next general election was not as bullish about the project as his would be political rivals in the area. Ryan said, “Every project in the Development Plan will have to be examined to see if they are viable. I have always been supportive of Metro North, but we are in a new space now and we need to look at all projects. If Labour comes to power at the next General Election and I am lucky enough to be chosen as a TD by the electorate, I will fight to ensure that Metro North gets a fair hearing in any Cost Benefit Analysis to see if it stacks up,” he said. Trad For Trocaire In Malahide The Junior band members of the Malahide and
Kinsealy branches of Comhaltas played a lively seisiún in St
Sylvester’s GAA club recently. The seisiún and fundraising event was organised in conjunction with Gibneys of Malahide in support of Trad for Trocaíre, a national fundraising initiative that was launched for the first time last month. Malahide and Kinsealy’s collaborative seisiúns always prove to be a great success, allowing the students to showcase their talents and build confidence by playing to a live audience. On this occasion the seisiún had the dual purpose of raising funds for Trocaíre’s Hunger campaign. Band practice is held every Wednesday in St Nicolas of Myra School in Kinsealy in conjunction with

Young Rush Piper Is All Ireland Champion There were major celebrations recently when Cillian Harford, a young piper from St. Maur’s Pipe Band Rush, took the top prize at the All Ireland Piping and Drumming Solo Championships. The competition was held in Belfast last month and is a big highlight in the competition calendar with pipers and drummers from all over Ireland taking part. Two other members of St. Maur’s also competed, Darragh Bollard and Gareth Carrick and both gave very good performances and finished well up in their respective grades. Cillian competed in the under 14 championship and gave an outstanding performance to win first prize and take the prestigious All Ireland Piping title. This is a fantastic achievement for Cillian as this is his first year competing at this level and is a testament to his father, Noel Harford, Pipe Major and Piping Tutor for St. Maur’s Pipe Band.

One disappeared into the briars, while the others flew up and over the fence beside the railway tracks. It was awful, you could hear them screaming and whining while they were caught. I went to get help, and when we came back they had moved off. We feared they were caught behind the fence, so we had to cut a small hole in it in the hopes they would come back”. Lucky enough, Brewster and his pals have returned in good form, and continue to reside at the side of the busy road they have made their home.

Swords Girl Fosters Abandoned Fawn Swords girl, Danielle Fogarty is certainly unique in her neighbourhood, as she is rearing a fawn in her backyard. Animal lover, Danielle, who is a final year student of Animal Science at UCD, happened upon the abandoned fawn as part of a research day conducted by the college. Danielle explained to the County Leader, “For the past two years, I have gone out with a group from UCD in June to the Phoenix Park, as this is the time when the deer go to fawn. We go with nets to capture fawn in order to take samples of hair and take measurements as part of research, before releasing them back to the wild. On 18th June on our first run of the morning, we happened upon a deer who had just given birth. The mother immediately abandoned the fawn, due to human contact and never returned. The other mothers would not let a strange fawn suckle them, so we knew that the baby fawn, which I

Bee Bee slept all day long during this period. Then when the three weeks had elapsed, she became very active. Danielle went on to explain, “My boyfriend has land in Co. Meath and we reckoned that Bee Bee would be better there with the extra space. We then decided to buy a goat to provide company for her. We called him Tom and they are the best of friends. Both goats and deer are herd animals and crave for company. Danielle and her boyfriend bring Bee Bee and Tom on walks in the Meath countryside and Tom particularly cleans up the shrubs on the roadside. Both animals are very relaxed and are not stressed in the least. Danielle hopes to keep Bee Bee for as long as possible, as she has bonded really well with her new foster mother. “I hope to pursue a career in Veterinary eventually and this has been a terrific experience for me,” she said.

Malahide Marina Gets A Makeover Malahide marina received a good tidying up when a group of citizens got themselves active to help out their local community.
By Jonathan Adams On Saturday week last, 9th October, members of the Junior Chamber International Ireland (JCI) got stuck into this picturesque part of Malahide, as part of Active Citizenship Week. President of the chapter, Brian Smyth told the County Leader what the week is about: “Leadership, motivation, acquiring skills and learning by doing, so it’s about getting out there and getting active,” he said. Active Citizenship Week tries to get people across the country to help their communities in many ways like visiting elderly people, registering to vote, painting schools, giving blood, planting flowers, donating books or tidying the local area. Calling on young people in Malahide and the North County to join in and volunteer their time, Mr. Smyth said, “We’d like them to get out and get active in their

local area, whether it is with a charity or a sports club there are loads of ways to get involved.” JCI’s call comes at a time when there are thousands of young people unemployed and faced with little or no job prospects. According to Smyth, JCI could be a new beginning for young people in this position: “If you get out there and you build up your network and develop new skills, who knows, it could be a potential new career path,” he said. The JCI Fingal chapter meets on the second Tuesday of every month in the Grand Hotel Malahide.
Well Known Author Visits Skerries School
The Skerries Community College was an even livelier scene than normal on Thursday 7th October, as celebrated children’s author Aubrey Flegg paid a visit. The writer gave a thoroughly captivating talk to numerous student groups, who clung to his every word. Flegg’s books include “Katie’s War”, “The Cinnamon Tree” and his current work, “Louise Trilogy”. The first book of this trilogy, “Wings over Delft”, won the Bisto Book of the Year 2003/4, Ireland’s most prestigious children’s literature prize and won the Reading Association of Ireland award in 2005. Flegg spoke of his time working as a geologist for the Geological Survey of Ireland in Africa, and of a research trip he undertook to Angola. As well as reading passages from some of his books, he took the time to speak of his experience with the writing process; “It is always important to choose a good companion, in school, in work and in life. It is the same when you write a character. I find writing to be an adventure. You always think you know where you’re going, but you’ll always find surprises along the way!”

Malahide Shuttle Bus Refusal Still Rankles

was judged that Malahide already had an adequate service in the existing Dublin Bus service. This is not the case, as the existing service is far from adequate. It stated that there was an adequate bus and train service, but the Shuttle service was designed to bring people to the train station. The Department of Transport refused our licence application in April and then refused the appeal in August despite being sent nearly 600 messages of support for the Shuttle from Malahide residents." He continued, "The reasons given were that existing services are adequate; possibly Dublin

Fears Of Monster Sewage Plant In Portrane
utor road in Donabate are “part of a renewed attempt to build a monster sewage plant on the peninsula,” the area’s community council has said. The County Council has applied to An Bord Pleanála for permission for the road that it intends to build, linking the Portrane road to the Hearse road by crossing Ballymastone and Corballis. The council says the road is needed to facilitate housing developments and to deal with future congestion. But in a document submitted as part of the application, the local authority said the road, three quarters of which will be dual carriageway, will also facilitate traffic for a new wastewater treatment plant. In its application, the county council states, “the road will open up development lands at Ballymastone and Corballis and will facilitate traffic from the proposed Portrane wastewater treatment plant.” Chairman of Donabate Portrane Community Council, Gareth Lee said expressions like “proposed Portrane wastewater treatment plant” could only mean one thing – the Council is attempting again to dump a monster plant on the area. Lee said, “it was opposed to
the new road as it is being built to open up the area to excessive housing development, and is a “Trojan horse” attempt to build a monster sewage plant in the area.” A small sewage plant to service Portrane, Donabate, Rush and Lusk is currently being built in Portrane. As this is being built it could not be referred to as a proposed sewage plant, meaning the county council still sees the area as a location for a monster plant. It now appears that the County Council is trying again to push the proposed monster sewage plant on Portrane. If that is the case it will be opposed all the way,” said Lee. He added that the 4 km distributor road would facilitate unsustainable housing development on the peninsula. Some 3km of the proposed road would be dual carriageway. The community council, along with pressure group Fairshare, has so far thwarted attempts going back to 2005 to build a giant sewage plant in Portrane severing the east coast of Ireland. Donabate Portrane Community Council said the proposed road was excessive in scale, and would lead to unsustainable housing development at a time when the country had 2,700 ghost estates.
Grants For Local Senior Citizens
Deputy Michael Kennedy has welcomed the awarding of more than €4,000 to Malahide Active Retirement Association under the new Seniors Alert Scheme. “I’m delighted to confirm Minister Pat Carey has sanctioned a grant of €4,140 for Malahide Active Retirement Association to fund equipment which will enable older people to continue to live securely in their homes. The equipment includes personal monitored alert systems Michael Kennedy TD for security and in-home fire alerts. This is another sign that the Government is committed to ensuring older people can have independence and peace of mind in their own homes and communities,” he said. “The Minister also recently approved almost €700 for Rush Senior Citizens under the Scheme of Community Support for Older People which has now been replaced by the Seniors Alert Scheme.”

The programme, launched by the County Council, aims to turn areas of the open field into meadow and this was kicked off with the planting of thousands of daffodils by residents last Saturday afternoon. County Mayor, Ken Farrell said the plan of this pilot scheme was to introduce paths through a meadow and to renew these open spaces, while still preserving large sections of the field for community sports. The family field day provided kids of the area with an abundance of activities, such as face painting, a bouncy castle, balloon modelling, human table-football, ice

Park Superintendent, Tom Hussey said that the target of the programme is to bring to the area “more trees, more wildflowers and less places for anti-social behaviour.” “There will a five to ten year turnabout on this project; this is not a quick fix,” Hussey explained. “We assessed the needs of the residents and we have planned the area to suit their needs.” As well as the planting of thousands of daffodils, Hussey hopes to plant large canopy trees. “We hope to eventually have some canopy trees such as oak, but for now, the residents will see spring colours and hopefully some in summer too,” he added. Orlynn Park resident, Tom Kilmurray expressed his delight at the programme. “I think it’s a very good idea, as most of the area is just green grass, we can now look forward to some beautiful colours in spring,” he said.

Report Recommends Greater Facilities For Balbriggan Youth A recent report on the North County’s mushrooming youth population has recommended

The report compiled by The Balbriggan Youth Wellbeing Group, made several key recommendations after consulting with 32 bodies who are the experts at dealing with people who are going through one of the most difficult and confusing parts of life. The report recommended that a youth orientated website would be beneficial, as would a drop in centre and a dedicated Youth Counselling service. The report focused on the mental health of

The objective of the charity is to provide a hospice care within this township, effectively a place of peace and sanctuary where mothers in the last couple of weeks in their lives can take refuge, and continue to have their babies with them to the end. Local Rotary Club Aids Pakistan Flood Victims The recent Pakistani flood disaster has touched the hearts of most people in the North County. In response to this challenge, the Dublin Fingal Rotary Club carried out a collection in the Swords area, on October 1st and 2nd. The collection was on behalf of ShelterBox, which is an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter, warmth and dignity to people affected by disaster worldwide. The collection raised sufficient funds for the dispatch of five boxes to the flood area, which will provide housing and support for 50 people.

The aim of the organisation is to respond instantly to natural and man made disasters by delivering boxes of aid to those who are most in need. Each box supplies an extended family of up to 10 people with a tent and essential equipment to use while they are displaced or homeless. Shelterbox was founded by Tom Henderson, a Rotarian and former Royal Navy search and rescue diver. He saw that the aid response to most disasters was in the form of food and medicine to help people survive the immediate
aftermath. ShelterBox was launched to fill that void. When news came of the devastating Indian Ocean Tsunami in 2004, ShelterBox faced its most significant challenge, one that would change its course forever. Donations and volunteers poured in and ShelterBox was able to ramp up its operations, ultimately sending out more than 22,000 boxes. This year, Rotary and ShelterBox have been major contributors of aid in the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake and the big current focus is on the areas of Pakistan devastated by flooding. National Breastfeeding Week was celebrated all around the country between 1st and 8th October, but this support group continues all year round. “The support group is run in Lusk Health Centre every Tuesday from eleven to twelve”, said nurse Siobhán Bruton, “We facilitate the group, but the mothers lead it.” A free raffle took place on Tuesday and gifts were donated to the support group by local businesses. “We would like to thank these shops for their generous donations and also to Murray’s, who provided both the venue and coffee free of charge”, Nurse McClean concluded.

Home Energy Information Meeting In Skerries Skerries residents were given the opportunity to become “energy-smart”, at a Home Energy Saving Information Meeting held in the Little Theatre on October 7th. The information evening, organised by Codema with the

Codema is a not-for-profit sustainable energy agency which acts as energy adviser to the four local authorities in Dublin. The idea is for homeowners to group together in Energy Smart Communities. By doing this, it is not only cheaper for the household, but more environmentally sound. There are currently two government grants available to private homeowners through Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI): the Home Energy Saving scheme and the Greener Homes scheme. The Energy Smart Community allows homeowners to make the most of these grants through a community 'cluster' formation. The work, covered under the two grant schemes above, includes the installation of insulation, boiler servicing, heating controls, solar panels, wood-chip boilers and many more. Suzanne Morgan, a Codema representative, explained to the County Leader that the idea of the meeting was to “get interested people together and to encourage them to take part in our home energy survey. From here, we can look to combine the work of the interested parties. A panel of contractors are thoroughly vetted, to ensure they are of a certain standard, before we choose the best bid on the work. As a non-profit organisation, we are totally independent of all contractors”. The meeting was a great success, with many residents expressing an interest in the scheme and signing up for the energy survey.

Nifti To Celebrate In Naul Nifti is a community transport company operating under the Rural Transport Programme. It is part of the Rural Transport Network and has asked its members to host an event in their service area in October, celebrating the contribution of the community in it’s success. Nifti is hosting an Open Day in the Seamus Ennis Centre, Naul on Friday October 29 from 2pm to 5pm where they will announce a new range of routes to provide connectivity for the rural community of the North County. New early morning service will deliver passengers to both Swords and Balbriggan for 7.10am with a return service scheduled from Swords at 5.40pm and 6.30pm, while the Balbriggan return will run at 6.30pm. By using this existing services in conjunction with these services, Nifti will provide an afternoon return service to Ashbourne, Swords and Balbriggan, providing opportunity to transact business in these venues over a two and half hour period prior to the return journey. Some new evening services will also be rolled out along with a Saturday afternoon service to Swords. A new ten journey same week saver ticket and weekly hopper ticket, will be introduced. Nifti believes that they must utilise the grant support provided by the Government and deliver the maximum value for money to the community.
Swords Man In Final Of Mr Gay Ireland Twenty two year old Omar Hebib from Swords is one of the lucky men who will be competing for the crown of Mr Gay
By Leslie Murphy Ireland this October 24th. Omar is in his final year studying for a Business degree and working part time as a waiter in a local Portmarnock restaurant. The young man is a fairly social person and enjoys spending time with others, helping and having fun. Founded in 2005 the event is organised by the Dublin Gay Theatre Festival. Mr Gay Ireland has become more than a beauty contest and has become a nationwide community civic and social project designed to overcome negative stereotypes of gay people and to encourage a civic and social action for HIV/AIDS amongst the contestants and their friends. Mr Gay Ireland has donated almost €50,000 to charitable causes including Round Tower Housing Association (HIV/AIDS), St. James’s Hospital Foundation (HIV/AIDS), BelongTo Youth Development, the KAL case and GCN. Omar told the County Leader, “I have to say I’m really excited for the Mr Gay Ireland final this Sunday. I can’t wait to meet the other contestants and
have a bit of fun. It’s not something I would have expected, but I’m over the moon to be involved. I originally got involved when I’d heard from previous contestants that it is a lot of fun to take part, and I’m always up for something new and different. I think it’s so important to try and do your bit for others whenever possible and I’m delighted that I get to represent Swords and do my bit to raise money for St. James Hospital, New Fill Service for HIV/AIDS patients. I think it’s a fantastic project and I’m really excited to be helping out.” The fundraising is important too and Omar has decided to team up with Candy, a gay club night being run in The Slaughtered Lamb, Swords on a Friday nights. Candy are hosting a Graffiti Party this Friday October 22nd including raffles, games of bingo and great prizes with all funds going to St James Hospital Foundation. “It’s great to finally have a gay night in the North County for everyone living out this way, instead of having to trek into town all the time. It would be amazing to win and become Mr Gay Ireland and go on to be an ambassador in Mr Gay World and do even more charity work, just gotta cross my fingers now and impress the judges on the night,” concluded Omar. Big Recycling Party In Swords The European Recycling Platform (ERP Ireland) is throwing a party in Swords, and everyone can attend. The party is to celebrate ERPâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s milestone collection of one Million Tonnes of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) across its 11 countries in Europe. The party takes place at the Wright Venue in Swords on 21st October 2010 from 8.00pm till late and entrance is open to anyone over 18 and is free to those who bring with them a piece of WEEE. ERP is holding recycling days from Monday 18th to Thursday 21st October at the Wright Venue. People can simply drop off their
old electrical item and collect their wristband to be included on the guest list! As well as celebrating the milestone achievement, the main aim of the Million Tonne recycling party is to raise awareness of the importance of recycling unwanted electronic goods. ERP is encouraging party goers to declutter and bring anything that has, or indeed had, a plug or battery to the party to gain free entry. One Million Tonnes of recycled electrical waste is equivalent to the removal of 3.5 million cars from the road for one year around Europe. ERP has also saved the emission of 11.2 million tonnes of CO2 through the recovery of raw materials â&#x20AC;&#x201C; this is the equivalent of flying around the world three million times

Road Safety Accolade For Swords Teacher A Swords teacher has been awarded with the title, â&#x20AC;&#x2DC;Ambassador for Road Safety Irelandâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;. This distinction has been bestowed on Tommy Duffy, a teacher in Holy Family SNS in River Valley by the Road Safety Authority. He also won the supreme award in Shining Lights and Road Safety by the RSA. Tommy, who is a keen and accomplished cyclist himself, has, for the last 18 years been responsible for providing bicycle safety training for sixth class pupils at the school. He has given up his lunchtime in order to be able to provide this service, such is his dedication to the cause. Under his care, the children are taught simple bike maintenance and the necessary skills to be safe on the road. Once the children become both competent

PLAN FOR CHRISTMAS Use The Club, Not The Credit Card The downturn in the economy has resulted in many people experiencing debt for the first time in their lives. Many people are faced with credit card debt and owe various loans here and there. Panic can set in as Christmas is fast approaching and if your one of the many who hasn’t started planning for Christmas or other special occasions, it’s not too late to start and maybe you can be the one in your family or circle of friends to start a club. Clubs of all sorts are a great idea for all of life’s little luxuries and they can be lots of fun and as they say, ‘Back in the Good Old Days’. That’s why it is such a good idea to become involved in Christmas clubs which take the pain and hardship out of the festive season. Donabate is reported to have had a population in 1912 of 734 persons living in 150 houses, and it remained a small village for more than a century. In recent years, however, because of the area's easy access to Dublin (improving roads and the presence of a railway station in the village), the population has begun growing quickly. In the 1996 census, the village's population was 1,868; by the time of the 2002 census it had doubled to 3,854. It was estimated in 2004 that the population had grown to around 7,000, and planned re-zoning and development may take it to 33,000 or more within a decade. Donabate has exploded from a sleepy rural village into a vibrant and bustling town at the heart of the North County With housing estates popping up in the town’s outskirts, it’s not just the town’s population that has soared. Along with the boom in numbers has been a rise in the levels of community spirit and participation. And despite the rapid growth and expansion of the area the town hasn’t lost its old world charm, but rather the blend of old and new creates the best of both worlds! Deputy Michael Kennedy (FF) has confirmed that two schools in the North County are to receive high speed broadband under a Government scheme. “Malahide Community School and Loreto Secondary School, Balbriggan will both receive high speed broadband under the €13 million Broadband to Schools Scheme. The schools will get 100 megabit high speed fibre and wireless broadband,” said Kennedy. “The Broadband speeds that will now be available to these schools are the equivalent to the speeds on offer to multinational corporations here. I am delighted to see this investment in schools in Malahide and Balbriggan and I can confirm the Government’s Broadband to Schools scheme will be available to other local secondary schools within the next two years.” He continued, “As our economy becomes more high-tech it is vital that students are confident in their use of technology and having these extra facilities at schools will assist that. This announcement for Loreto Secondary School follows the awarding of the contract last month for a major construction project of more than 3,600 square metres. This extension and revamp will include a new PE hall and general and specialist classrooms over two storeys,” he concluded.

Enda Kenny Visits Donabate There was great excitement in Donabate recently, when Fine Gael leader, Enda Kenny paid a visit to Donabate/Portrane Educate Together School. He was accompanied by his deputy leader, James Reilly and shadow Education spokesman, Fergus O’Dowd. His visit included a reception for him by the schoolchildren, who sang with great effort. Paul Rowe, Chief Executive of Educate Together speaking at the event commented, “When the country is struggling to pay its bills, the expansion of an unproven, high cost model into a low cost base sector simply does not make sense. We applaud the Tánaiste’s stated intent to respond to the demands the changing shape of Irish society places on our education system. However, it must be questioned why the state is creating its own version of a multidenominational school, when a highly successful, cost efficient option already exists. We are ready to meet the needs of our changing education system and are ready to work closely with the Department of Education and Skills to meet the high demand for new multi-denominational schools around the country, he said.” Educate Together operates 58 multi-denominational primary schools nationwide and has applications for 43 further schools pending with the Department. Its model is based on providing equality for all children irrespective of their social, cultural or religious backgrounds. Educate Together opened its first school in 1978 and in 2008 opened 12 schools simultaneously. Places in Educate Together schools are highly sought after and 13,000 pupils are currently being taught the national curriculum in their schools.

Alan’s work ranges from landscapes to portraits to supernatural scenes and is very inviting on the eye. Every painting opens up a new window of senses and emotion once viewed. Alan has been painting and drawing for over 20 years now and has a very broad range of work. The exhibition was un-named on account of the amount of different styles and subjects included. His work is so realistic and portrays images of well known characters and iconic figures from all walks of life. Sometimes it can be difficult to tell the

difference between his paintings and a photograph, so realistic is his work. Alan’s first exhibition was called ‘Shades Of Angels’ and was influenced by painting spiritual scenes and angels. His early work included spiritual scenes, fairies and fantasies where he would then have to add a background to these works and this is when he would introduce landscape. His inspiration comes to him in different ways and he paints things he sees and likes, it’s not always planned. Alan told the County Leader, “ I have always loved painting and used acrylics for a long time because as much as I wanted to use oil, I couldn’t master it. Four years ago, I found a flair for oils and haven’t stopped since. My ambition is to start working towards bringing two to three exhibitions of my work on display yearly. I now have an agent, Joe Lynch and with his help, I hope to bring this dream to fruition,” he concluded.

The play marks the directorial debut for Daphne Lynders and stars Neill Kellett as the “Bull” McCabe. Tadhg, his son, is played by James Fleming and Paul Keogh takes on the role of the memorable Bird O’Donnell. Michael O’Dea and Noelle Corcoran are cast as Mick and Maimie Flanagan. The play has a large cast and we are delighted to welcome some new faces to the Society. A great night’s entertainment is promised - though we must add that the “Bull” will not be driving any cows over the side of the stage!! The society would like to remember Liam Mc Loughlin, who passed away earlier this year. Liam devoted many years to the society as an actor, mentor, friend, a source of inspiration with a great sense of fun. He will be greatly missed. On opening night the society will present a donation in memory of Liam to the Mc Loughlin family in aid of St Francis Hospice Raheny.

Balbriggan Bounty Terror Around Town There will be plenty of ghouls goofing around Balbriggan during a two-day festival on October 30th and 31st. On Sunday, Freaky Foroige will host macabre music groups at a bandstand where revolting refreshments will be for sale. If you get so frightened you forget, posters will mysteriously appear around Balbriggan to remind you. The winning poster was designed by Kayleigh Ryan, a 6th year student at St. Molaga’s School in Balbriggan and the winning limerick was composed by Dargile Puidokaite, also 11 and a 6th year student at St Molaga’s School. Remember, there’s no escape! So clear your creaky calendars to hunt for treasure, boo-gie down at the party and listen to some Balbriggan banshees... It’ll be a scream!

You have succeeded in presenting your skills and experience as a solution to the employer’s vacant role! Remember when and how you found the vacancy, the research you did and the effort you put into your CV and cover note. The object of each of those exercises and the time and effort you invested was to get this interview. Your efforts have succeeded in getting you an opportunity to sell yourself in person. Now don’t let yourself down. You only have one chance to make a first impression! Regardless of the role wear business attire, a suit or freshly
pressed shirt and trousers/ skirt. If you are wearing nail varnish make sure it is not chipped! Find out the dress code of the company and please be aware that visible piercings (except ears) are not well regarded in most work environments. Do your research on the company; make sure you go to the “about us” section of their website and google them for details of any recent news about them. Also remember to spend time reviewing your own CV. Firstly give a firm handshake, smile and thank the interviewer or panel for seeing you. Make eye contact, if your interview is with a panel always look at the person speaking to you. Consider your answers in positive terms where possible, you are a “can do” person. If you are asked for an example it is a competency based interview. To score points in a competency based interview you must answer the questions with specific examples not general terms. Therefore include the year, the company you were
working in, the circumstances / situation and the outcome to score maximum points.Remember to have positive questions at the end of the interview and always close by thanking the interviewer or the panel for their time! Best of Luck
