Frantoi Cutrera Premium Sicilian olive oil
Pastificio G. Di Martino Gragnano IGP
The Cutrera family has been making olive oil in Chiaramonte Gulfi, in south-eastern Sicily, since the 1970s. Giovanni and Maria Cutrera set up their first mill in 1979; Giovanni had grown up working in an olive-pressing mill turned by mules. The operation grew as the quality of oil made from olives grown in the Iblei mountains spread first through Sicily, then through Italy, and then via export. Now Giovanni and Maria’s grandchildren are running the business, mixing tradition with innovation.
Pastificio G. Di Martino is a historic pasta-maker in Gragnano on the Sorrento coast, the capital of pasta-making. Gragnano pasta is made with 100% fine Italian durum wheat semolina and has Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status. It is characterised by its coarse appearance, and when cooked has a firm and elastic consistency, with excellent resilience. Di Martino pasta is made in Gragnano itself at the beginning of the marvellous Sorrento Coast. Its characteristically rough surface holds sauces and keeps the flavour of the fresh wheat, ensuring a bond between the pasta and sauce.
