Saltburn's Brine and Swimming Baths

Saltburn's Brine and Swimming Baths were opened on May 11th 1891 by Alfred Pease followed by an exhibition of ornamental swimming by Professor and Miss Weddell and later a friendly game of water polo by Middlesbrough Amateur Swimming Club. When the Saltburn and Marske Urban District Council purchased the Baths another formal opening took place on June 20th 1913 by the Right Hon H.L. Samuel (Postmaster General) with Jack Hatfield of Middlesbrough. There was a World Champion amateur swimmer giving an exhibition. The building was demolished in July 1976.
