Qeeboo 22-23

Over the last year Qeeboo has enriched its path thanks to the collaboration with two leading authors: Ron Arad and Marco Oggian. The former needs no introduction, he is one of the greatest and most recognized international designers who, collaborating with Qeeboo, succeeded to express his most fresh and playful soul with the DFWTM (Don’t F**k with the mouse) Armchair. We had immediately a great affinity of purpose, working with him was very stimulating and represented for Qeeboo a sign of maturity that will certainly give additional results in the near future. The second, Marco Oggian, is in my opinion the most talented, emerging creative in the current Italian context. I’m not sure whether to call him an artist, a graphic designer or a designer: he is undoubtedly a visionary capable of turning everything he touches into an up to date feeling. By working with him, I was struck by the spontaneity with which he creates objects characterized by a strong personality through a language that is a genuine and powerful expression of the contemporary scene. His very personal work is made up of strong signs that allowed Qeeboo to develop new collections based on previously unexplored typologies and materials. It seems as Marco has been absorbing the strongest figurative languages of the last 50 years, from Memphis to pop to graffiti artists, blending everything to obtain a magical result in terms of power and relevance. Ettore Sottsass approached the street art world through the use of color and plastic laminates even if he kept a typical great-mind distance from it, whereas Marco was able to embed the same perspective in a surprising and natural way. am sure that, if Ettore was still with us, he would have loved him as much as we do. Other important additions in this catalogue are the new products of the Primitive family by Studio Nucleo, the sofa, bookshelf xs and large size carpets. The new components of the Ribbon family by Nika Zupanc are: the Ribbon armchair and the baby Ribbon chair for the kids. Moreover, the Mabelle M by Marcel Wanders studio is a medium-sized suspension lamp, which is added to the larger existing Mabelle XL. Among the new objects, Paki is a coffee table designed by me, supported by an elephant whose trunk expands to create the table top and the Sweet Brothers, a new version of the Golden Brothers finished with soft touch colors. A new exciting series concerns the Editions, where our most successful iconic products are entirely decorated in limited editions with patterns created by artists, designers or stylists, through the cubic printing technique. The first of them are the Teddy and the Rabbit, presented in two different sizes, decorated by Marco Oggian. We hope that, by going through these pages, you'll be able to feel the same energy and passion that we felt while doing this work.

Don't f**k with the mouse

Originally created in 1988, Don’t F**k With The Mouse it’s one of Ron Arad’s most iconic armchair. As a limited edition product it has undergone numerous metamorphoses over the years and finally it has become an industrial product presented by Qeeboo in two versions: one for indoor spaces made in polyurethane foam covered with fabric and the other one also for outdoor spaces in rotational moulding recyclable polyethylene.

Primitive

The Primitive bookshelf is one of the strongest and most iconic products designed by Studio Nucleo. Originally made as a limited-edition product, this bookshelf is now industrialized by Qeeboo and re-proposed in a recyclable polyethylene version. The Primitive Bookshelf XS is a new smaller version that can be easily placed. Both bookshelves are expandible by adding more modules to the first one. After launching the primitive armchair, the Primitive sofa is another new addition to the family. It maintains the asymmetrical, padded structure of the armchair introducing a new element as the headrest. This version has a longer seat allowing three people to comfortably sit on it.

Paki

Designed by Stefano Giovannoni, Paki is a small and colourful coffee or side table. With its long trunk a little elephant holds a circular top that allows to place various objects on it. Available in multiple colours and gold metal finishing.

Mabelle

Mabelle is a suspension lamp originally designed by Marcel Wanders studio for some installations and today redesigned for Qeeboo in a large size. For centuries this object, a symbol of celebration, has been used to bring people together: Mabelle was born with this idea, and it is the focal point of every room. The new Mabelle M is adapted to fit smaller contexts, the sinuous shapes of the bow and the dome, give an elegant touch, creating memorable environments in your indoor spaces.

Golden and Sweet Brothers

Designed by Stefano Giovannoni, the Golden Brothers are a family of lamp-characters which, reflecting a soft light on their body, enhance the plasticity and fluidity of their silhouette. Qeeboo now introduces the Sweet Brothers, 5 new brothers in different soft touch colours. Find them in black, white, light blue, yellow and terracotta, assuming different postures. They create an animated landscape characterizing the table and every corner of the house. This family of portable rechargeable battery-operated LED lamps is equipped with a soft touch switch.

MONSTER CARPETS DESIGN MARCO OGGIAN

Marco Oggian creates a series of large and medium dimension carpets that revisit with its own vision a series of imaginary monsters and creatures. Italian Tiger, Big Bear, Crocopink, Blue Panther and Kinotto can easily be placed in your indoor spaces creating exciting and joyful sceneries.

These poufs, designed by Marco Oggian are characterized by playful patterns all around. On top of them you will find a SIT HERE graphic, encouraging people to try them and enjoy their comfort. Available in three different dimensions:

Fallen Chandelier

Fallen Chandelier is the last masterpiece by Studio Job, a floor lamp suitable for indoor and outdoor environments. Inspired by their unforgettable art installation named “Fallen Chandeliers”, a series of off scale lamps scattered on a large field where once a royal palace stood. As memory of the missing palace only the lamps were left on the ground.

Qeeboo transforms this art project into a design object that reflects the same timeless dream. Influenced by 19th century Thonet classic curves, this object travels through times to be the outstanding protagonist in each place it lives in.

Sherwood

Sherwood is an impressive 2-meter-high deer for indoor and outdoor spaces whose antlers become chandeliers decorated with crystals and pendants. The strong natural energy of the animal is immortalized by Marcantonio who imagines the deer moving proudly in a forest creating, thanks to its mighty luminous horns, magical glows in the night, as if it were a guide to follow.

Turtle Carry

Turtle Carry family is inspired by the natural world and its bizarre shapes translating them into speaking objects full of irony and cheerfulness. Somebody said that turtles are the most savior and adaptive among all animals because they walk around carrying their homes on the shoulders. Our Turtle is no exception, sustaining on its shell a book pile, a coffee table, a soft cushion, a lamp and a planter. And that's not all: our tireless friend is going to move around even more items with different uses, creating new surprising combinations.

After the success of Turtle Carry, Marcantonio designed the iconic turtles in a small version. The carapace supports a small planter, a pocket emptier, a light sphere and a jewelry tree.

Giraffe in Love

“Giraffe in Love” is a dreamy giraffe holding a classic Marie-Thérèse style chandelier. It represents irony and lightness: the giraffe is in love but she doesn't know it yet because her heart is far from her head and she lives love light-heartedly. Available in different sizes, from 100 to 400 cm high, for indoor and outdoor (higher dimensions) uses.

Rabbit

Rabbit is one of Stefano Giovannoni’s hat tricks, which immediately became a pop icon, a symbol of love and fertility, which brings good luck and good wishes. The idea of the rabbit, a gentle, lovable and shy animal, comes from the association of its silhouette with the one of a seat, where the rabbit’s ears become the backrest of the chair.

Designed originally in two versions, for adults and children, the Rabbit chair can be used to sit leaning against the ears or on the opposite side, riding it and resting the forearms on its ears. The two rabbits are also available in the LED light version suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Over the years the family has seen the introduction of an XS size as well sold in three different versions: LED lamp, doorstopper and velvet finished bookend.

Behind Qeeboo's products there is a strong research on materials and finishings. In particular the velvet and the metal finishes. Qeeboo is the only company that has successfully managed to apply PVD (physical vapor deposition) metal finishes on polyethylene material, creating an exclusive sculptural product.

Rabbit Tree

The Rabbit Tree is the table of the Rabbit Chair. It is a small tree with two support levels. The higher branch holds a 70 cm wide circular top at a height of 75 cm that matches with the Rabbit Chair. The lower branch can either be used to accommodate a Rabbit Baby Chair or serve as a handy holder for bags or other objects.

Kong

Kong lamp, designed by Stefano Giovannoni, is ready to bring a new light to the urban jungles around the world. Inspired by the extraordinary primate with human traits, the mythic King Kong, following its example, decides to leave the wild nature to make a change of address and move to the city. Free of every feral trait, Kong becomes a product with a great scenic presence and narrative power. Multi-purpose and massive, he carries a torch that, with anadjustable arm, directs the light beam at different angles, illuminating both indoor and outdoor locations. Paris lamp designed by Studio Job is a tribute to Job Smeets’ bohemian years when he lived in Paris and the magnificent Dame de Fer was his neighbour, a reassuring presence in his life. The concept of the lamp refers clearly to the iconic shape of the Tour Eiffel that, while bending forward, becomes the supporting stem of the brass diffuser. Initially produced as a limited edition, the lamp has been completely redesigned both in terms of shape and material.

Mexico

Job was inspired by a legendary figure who lived wrapped in mystery: “the singer without a name“. “No one had ever seen her come out of her house, where heavy velvet curtains hid her from the eyes of the curious. The inscrutable singer was the author of a great musical success entitled, in fact, Mexico“ (Job Smeets).

The result is a story that plays down on what scares us most, death, meaning that it cancels the features of the face and transforms it into something else. Decorated with the Mexican skull's graphic pattern, a symbol created to exorcise death and celebrate life, it can become an extravagant stool, side table or planter.

This polyurethane foam pouf is designed by Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman. Cherry

With the generous strokes of Nika Zupanc’s pencil, the cherry fruit becomes a suspended ceiling lamp with an LED light bulb. With its curves the Cherry lamp is a provocative pendant lamp: useful and seductive at the same time. This lamp references the instinct of grasping fruit directly from the tree.

“Mr Holder was a shark who loved swimming but could not do it. He was mocked by all the other sharks who called him a ‘boring little girl’. Poor thing! Then two famous designers with their superpower to reinterpret the simplest objects of daily life, transformed Mr Holder into Killer, an unusual umbrella stand, saving him from his sad destiny.“ (Job Smeets)

Plateau Miroir

The precious classic 17th century tray is revived today in an object designed to be out of scale, which takes on a new functionality, to be used as a mirror on the wall. The mirror can be hanged either vertically or horizontally. The silver metal version with the same finishing and reflection of the mirror, creates a very sophisticated homogeneous effect.

Cat Cave

Home-cave-refuge for cats

Cat Cave, designed by Stefano Giovannoni as a partnership between Qeeboo and United Pets is a home-cave-refuge for cats. It is composed of two overlapping stones: the bottom cave has a scratching mat on the floor and a soft ball hanging from the ceiling. The top one is characterized by a porthole that allows the cat to enter, protect himself and examine the outside world, planning the next domestic attack.

Front’s Loop Chair has a dynamic, asymmetrical shape. “Just as human bodies are not symmetrical we wanted to create a chair that feels individual and allows different ways of sitting.” It is a challenge to make an injection-moulded plastic chair, but the material also has unique possibilities. It is possible to manipulate it in a whole range of dimensions in a way that is not possible in any other material. The plastic chair was finely crafted on the computer in collaboration with engineers, one digital point at a time. The Loop Chair is produced in two versions: upholstered with cushion and without cushion and it's perfectly stackable.

“Flash, savior of the universe. He is there for us all, he represents each of us. He single handedly saved every man, every woman, every child, with a powerful flash! Ever since we banished the darkness from our caverns and Luke has faced Darth Vader in Star Wars, no light has been as important as Flash.” (Job Smeets) In designing Flash, Studio Job has thought of a led torch intended as a symbol of life, progress, and salvation but also as a flash in the dark, a destroyer of shadows and an icon of the ambiguity of the universe. One single object encapsulates stories of men, ghosts and adventurous children. Much more than a simple lamp.

Qeeboo has presented a collection of carpets, designed by Andrea Branzi, Stefano Giovannoni, Richard Hutten, Alessandro Mendini, Studio Nucleo and Nynke Tynagel. They are objects designed to blend into space and to give character to the environment by creating magical and surreal atmospheres. Depending on the design, they are made in a 2x3m rectangular, 3x2m oval or 2m diameter round format.
