Meet your ADMISSION FELLOWS KRISTIN ’18 has lived and studied all over the United States and in the United Kingdom. She is thrilled to be back in her hometown Seattle. Kristin’s path has not been a traditional one — before coming to law school, she enjoyed an active career as a flutist, orchestral musician, and teacher. At Seattle U, she is exploring her interest in environmental law, arts law, and intellectual property. E-mail: bateman3@seattleu.edu STEVEN ’18 grew up in Kent, Washington, just a short drive down I-5 from Seattle. He attend Central Washington University. Steven has a BA in political science and a minor in law and justice. He was fortunate enough to get an internship at a local law office during his last year of college. This sparked his interest in family law and the legal profession in general. When not studying or attending class, Steven likes to take adventures with his friends around Seattle. Women’s Studies from Wesleyan College, while also playing soccer. After graduation, she moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and spent five years working and soaking up the sun. JOE ’19 is from Oregon originally but went to Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and lived there for a year before moving to Seattle four years ago. Joe worked as a labor union organizer after college which sparked his interest in law as a vehicle for a more just and equitable society. DOMINIC ’19 grew up in Tacoma, Washington and attended Washington State University where he majored in Political Science and minored in English. Dominic decided to follow in the footsteps of his mother and sister, who are both alumni of Seattle U Law. We’re available during regular business hours at the Admission Office to discuss your questions or concerns. Admission and Student Financial Services staff are available to meet with you in person at your convenience. You will soon receive a SU student e-mail address. The majority of our communication occurs via e-mail. This helps to keep you in contact with all School of Law departments and events happening on campus. If you did not provide your Social Security Number to the Admission Office during the application process, contact Student Financial Services at 206-3984250 with your information to avoid delay.
Submit Tuition Deposit
A $250 deposit is due to reserve your seat in the 2017 entering class (please see your admit letter for the due date of this deposit). If you are enrolling in the fall, a second deposit of $250 will be due on June 1, 2017.

Complete Confirmation for Summer Criminal Law course
If you’re starting school this summer, register and confirm your enrollment online. Instructions forthcoming.
The transcript must reflect the awarding of your bachelor’s degree. Transcripts should be sent directly to the Admission Office. Transcripts sent to LSAC do not meet this ABA requirement.
In July, confirm your fall registration. Confirmation information will be sent to you via your SU e-mail account.
Sign Up for a Mentor
The Women’s Law Caucus, in conjunction with the Student Bar Association, organizes this program. You can elect to have a student and/or alumni mentor. More information will be available at the beginning of the school year.
Student ID Card
During orientation, you will get your Student ID (Campus Card). You must bring a valid driver’s license, state ID, or a passport and your SU student ID number.
Purchase a Parking Pass, Bus Pass, Etc. The Department of Campus Public Safety and Transportation is on the 1st floor of the University Services Building. Bus and parking passes can be purchased online. seattleu.edu/transportation

Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note
Laptop Computer
Your award letter will be e-mailed to your SU e-mail account approximately three weeks after your admit letter is received (but no earlier than mid-March), if your financial aid file is complete. Print, sign, date, and return the award letter indicating what aid you wish to accept, reduce, or reject, including Conditions of Award.
Complete the Stafford Loan Promissory Note online at https://studentloans.gov (unless you previously signed a Master Promissory Note at a Direct Lending school, e.g. University of Washington). Click on Subsidized/Unsubsidized. The Stafford unsubsidized loan is disbursed equally each semester, but tuition charges vary from term to term. Budget carefully!
Entrance Counseling
Complete Entrance Counseling documentation at https://studentloans.gov (click on Entrance Counseling) for Stafford and Grad PLUS loans.
Forms
Submit verification forms or any other documentation as requested by our office. Disclose any outside scholarships or funding assistance you receive.
Apply for an alternative loan (federal Grad PLUS or private loan) if eligible and additional funding is necessary. Credit check required. Equal disbursements fall/spring unless requested otherwise in writing and approved. If you choose Grad PLUS, complete the PLUS request process, promissory note, and entrance counseling at https://studentloans.gov.
Laptops are required by the law school. If you need to purchase a laptop, you must buy it first and keep your receipt and proof of payment by you, the student. After authorization by Student Financial Services, you may apply for an alternative, credit-based loan to reimburse yourself up to the cost of the computer, or $1,350, whichever is less. You must pass a credit check to receive this loan.
Funding
You must complete the registration/validation process each term and attend class. Financial aid pays institutional charges first. Refunds for living expenses are usually available shortly after the term begins, if you have completed all necessary paperwork in a timely manner. However, always be prepared to pay for books and expenses yourself the first few weeks of each term.

IMPORTANT NOTES Scholarships Applicants receiving merit-based scholarships are notified at the time of admission. Official Transcript a Must Arrange for your undergraduate institution to send us a copy of your official, final undergraduate transcript, which notes the degree received and the date it was awarded. The transcripts provided by LSAC do not meet the American Bar Association requirement. We must receive an official transcript directly from your undergraduate school. Notice Regarding Character & Fitness Each state bar has a character or ethics section as part of its certification. A criminal record could prevent you from sitting for the bar examinationÂeven if you have received a JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Only the bar association in each individual state can advise you regarding a conviction and its impact on your ability to sit for the bar exam. We advise you to contact them directly. It is imperative you do so prior to your law school matriculation rather than waiting until graduation. It is important that you also notify us immediately if you received a new criminal charge, conviction, academic probation, or misconduct notification from LSAC after submitting your application. Campus Parking and Public Transportation Upon arrival for the new semester, all students planning to park their vehicles on campus should check with the Department of Campus Public Safety and Transportation (University Services Building). There are no reserved parking spaces on the Seattle University campus. All students have equal access to lots and garages owned by the University. Rates for 2017-2018 can be obtained by contacting the Department of Campus Public Safety and Transportation during the summer of 2017.
As in any major city, traffic in Seattle can be challenging. To encourage the use of public transportation, Seattle University provides a significant subsidy toward the cost of a monthly bus pass in King and Pierce counties. Many students find it a convenient and affordable way to get around. Arrangements for bus, train, and ferry passes can be made at the Department of Campus Public Safety and Transportation. seattleu.edu/transportation Carpools Carpools generally can be organized during many of our spring events or within the first week of the semester, so don’t worry about making the commute alone! IMPORTANT DATES Tuition Deposit Reminder
Remember your $250 advance tuition deposit to ensure your place in the 2017 Entering Class is due by the deadline stated in your admit letter. The tuition deposit is non-refundable. Should you enroll at Seattle University, the $250 deposit will be applied to your first semester’s tuition. A second $250 deposit will be required by Friday, June 1, 2017 for students beginning fall semester.
Dates to Remember
Financial aid applications are due Tuesday, March 1, 2017 or as soon thereafter as possible. Those planning to start law school this summer should note the date of Monday, June 19, 2017, the first day of the summer term. Students starting via the Access Admission program will begin Monday, June 12, 2017. All entering 1Ls will have orientation on the week of August 14. More details forthcoming.
Visiting Sullivan Hall
In March, 2017 we invite you to join us for our Meet the Faculty events, where you can visit a first-year class in addition to joining the professor teaching the class for a light meal to discuss classroom expectations, and life as a law student. Meet the Faculty sessions are scheduled for Monday, March 6, 2017 at noon and Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 5 p.m. Watch for details. Our annual Spring Visit Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, 2017. This popular event attracts admitted students from across the country and features a mock law school class, information sessions about our legal clinics, Externship Program, and our Center for Professional Development, and lunch with Dean Annette E. Clark and distinguished law school alumni.
