Letter to the Community
DEAR FRIENDS OF SEATTLE ACADEMY,
The 2019–2020 school year has come and gone, and what an extraordinary year it was. We began in September with great enthusiasm as we launched the school year with our new Mission Statement and Guiding Principles and ended in June teaching students remotely – challenging them and ourselves to question, imagine, create, and contribute boldly to this changing world that none of us could have anticipated. Still, our community came together in extraordinary ways to provide an exceptional program for our students during this unprecedented time.
Thanks to the continued generosity of our community, SAAS students enjoyed an innovative learning experience guided by talented faculty who are dedicated to their success. Whether intrigued by literature, the sciences, drama, athletics, or service learning, the full breadth of the SAAS program was possible thanks to donors like you. The Annual Fund and SAAS in the City combined raised over $2.4 million—far exceeding our goal! Your commitment to our school is deeply appreciated and will be critical in the challenging years ahead.
As we navigate these difficult times, I hope you and your family are finding ways to stay connected and hopeful. We are all experiencing dramatic change, but the SAAS community is standing together to support each other, every step of the way.
With Gratitude,
Rob Phillips, Head of School
David Sheppard, Board Chair
